So with my nice win on the Melbourne storm yesterday  bacon bacon I'm thinking of getting this.

http://www.bikemonkey.com.au/ducati-monster-696-1100-led-taillight-with-integrated-turnsignals.html

Does anyone know if such combined setup is legal here in nsw? Police

Anyone got these?

And if so with the Competition Werks fender eliminator kit already installed.

I think the main issue in Oz ADR'se is the distance between the actual indicators!!  Huh?

Dunno what it is supposed to be, but depends on the enthusiasm of the  Police, to whether you get any grief! Evil

Hey Justo
They are  legal untill inspector plod catches you, that could be now or never.
But can't tell you if these are legal or not .but if you have to ask i guess they aren't legal.Being a safety issue
I was looking at them my self and found this
Here is some thing i copied and pasted from desmotimes.
With far more cred than me, more safety iussue than legal even though it is from the US.

http://www.desmotimes.com/Clear Taillight with LED Taillight - $79.95

This insert replaces the stock bulb and lens on 1999+ Ducati 750/800/900/1000 Sport and Supersport. This tail light does NOT have the integrated turn signals. I will not sell such setups because I feel they are dangerous and do not offer oncoming traffic enough visual cues about impending turns.

I remember in the old days hand signals were ok no indictors needed, good for dirt bikes
but i supose if indicators are fitted they must remain so i will have to check the ADR'S on that.

Huh? On-coming traffic Huh? Isn't that what front indicators are for?

BTW, I don't think they are strictly legal either ... and dare I say many of our indicator setups may not be.

Kind of off topic, but what are the hand signals while riding a bike? I know how it is meant to work in a car ... but on a bike? Taking your hand away from the throttle and brake can't be a good thing. Are signals mirror reversed on the left hand? I am sure most drivers wouldn't have a clue anyway. Anybody know?

Just so you know Lillie doesn't have any indicators and I just use whatever means I can to let people know my intentions ... just don't know the correct procedure.

Hello from Southern California!  chug  Over here your turn indicators need to be nine inches apart from center of the bulb.  I would think if the part of the integrated signal that changed colors to indicate a turn was the required distance from center (4 1/2 inches), then the setup would be legal.  Or, I could be completely wrong...    cheeky

It appears that the distance between the signals varies, depending on the State!!  Roll Eyes

It varies from 180mm (South Oz) to 300mm (Vic).  Huh?

Good old Oz bureaucracy, consistently inconsistant.  Roll Eyes Sad Police

 Hey Betty.

Your really making me work hard here Tongue bang head
I think we all know what Desmo times was trying to get at. i did pick that up my self.should read incoming laughingdp

As for hand signals they are perfectly legal in NSW p62 section 5
Motor cycle hand book http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/downloads/motorcycle_riders_handbook.pdf

Think of all the vintage bikes on the road pre indicators.
Possibly a lot of those Duc's at the concourse didn't have any?

30 M'ts is when you should start to indicate before turning.
usually you are of the gas so a quick right hand signal is possible.

Left turn to easy, hand signals between gear changes  laughingdp

As for lane changing who uses indicators anyway Grin
and right hand signals next to impossible .

I still like to use hand signals now and then .As indicators i my opinion are next to useless during the day any way.
As they say ride defensively or so it goes.

And who or WTF is LILLIE? We got to talk!! Roll Eyes

As in IIINNNCOOOMMMINNNNG!!!! Grin

Thanks for the link Rob ... more or less as I expected. On my quick skim through the document I noticed a HM in one of the piccies Cool.

Either hand is can be a struggle on Lillie with the gear change on the left hand. Lillie is Jukie's Lambretta ... she who builds the scoot, names the scoot laughingdp

This is good to know. Mine are still illegal, but now I know by what degree Cheesy

If you are riding an older monster, you can put the indicators in the frame - hides them nicely.

Newer monster? I've seen indicators integrated into the license plate - but they are also no compliant. How about buying the smallest legal indicators you can find, and mounting them behind the license plate, so that only the indicator peeks out on each side?

Yeah, could. But still defeats the purpose of having a nice tidy package and adding more just to take away is kinda ironic.

When the eliminator goes on (arrived this morning) it may, fingers crossed, buy me some satisfaction time that I may forget about the integrated indicators. Just maybe. hmmm.
