REJECTED! Is this weird or is it me

I ride for my own reasons which i am sure 99% of the people here understand and share.  Being part of a 'group' or 'scene' is not even a consideration to me.

That said, i commute most days to my office.  Not a bad commute, but dealing with Boston-area rush hour traffic and colder weather its not for everyone.  Three other riders in my professional building commute many days - a GSX and a Yamaha R somehting.  I have never met either rider, but always felt a kind of brotherhood.  Each morning we park our bikes in the same spot.

This morning, waiting in traffic on the highway the GSX pulls into traffic behind me - i recognize the bike and we ride in the last 15 minutes together.  Pulling into the garage i a, thinking "great, get to meet this guy (or girl) and say hi".  Not looking to be best friends, just share an acknowledgement of the cold ride and crazy traffic.

I pull into the garage first and ride around the long way as i do each morning so that i face out to leave.  The GSX takes the short route, cuts in front of me and parks in the protected spot that i park in EVERY DAY.

Mildly annoyed, i think whatever the garage is huge and empty and pull up right next to him looking forward to saying hello.  The guy gets off his bike and starts walking to the elevator with his helmet on, without the slightest acknowledgement.  I get off, unbuckle and head for the elevator.

As I am about 10 feet from the door it starts to close.  We make eye contact and he lets the door close on me...

I just stood there, feeling like the dorky guy rejected by the popular girl at the 7th grade dance.

Just seems weird to me that you wouldn't take literally 20 seconds to say hello to another rider in your building.  Maybe its me?

You live in the NE right? Shouldn't you be used to that behavior by now?  [cheeky]

Sounds pretty rude to me, but whaddayagonnado?
Respeta mi autoridad!

Slide Panda

Well... seems like the other dude is just a douche. Removing the fellow rider element from the situation, he's rude enough to just let the elevator just close in your face.  Perhaps he's not worth meeting... Or he might have just had a crap commute and was angry at the world... NE traffic will do that to a body...
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Don't take it personally.

As Yuu said, if that is an example of his normal behavior maybe you're better off not meeting him.

"F**K U IT HAPPENED"

Suzuki Blvd M109R " Sliver " = assassinated by cager
PW 696 " Pearl " = traded in
M1100 " Loki " = Viking God of mischief ( Goddess in this case )
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty pristine body, but rather to come in sliding sideways all used up screaming F*CK YEAH WHAT A RDIE!!

Frosty_spl

What a douche!

I always say HI to the Triumph cruiser rider in my building.

somegirl

I agree it seems odd and rude.  Hopefully it was just that he was having a bad day. :-\

shit, that's weird. i'd have attempted to strike up a conversation, and see if there might be a regular friday lunch group for the guys/gals that ride.

maybe bad day, maybe late, maybe stressed about a project, maybe you forgot to bathe, who knows. maybe just a d'bag.

I always found pissing down the exhaust much more satisfying. But whatever works.  Just don't get to close to a hot exhaust. It hurts like hell and people look at you funny.
