Speeding on Hy,,,,Never  [roll] How can anyone not speed. Where I drive the Hy's arnt that conguested. I dont have the luxury of having a near-by track or mountain rds. Express way On/Off ramps are good at the right time of the day. U can even simulate a track with a little bit of a imagination.

Oh "DoubleE" Sorry to here about that man. Hopefully all is well. Which bike did U go down on. The Monster or 1098 ? I just had a similiar experience on the weekend with  [leo]. Only my results never cost me a penny.

My first thought when I read the thread title was "well, DUH!"

It might depend on your definition of speeding and of highway. It's a long way to an interstate from here. "Highway" means 2-lane roads, some of them quite lovely in their twistiness and covered bridgedness. In all honesty I can't claim I ever really go the speed limit unless it's raining, but usually I'm only 20% or so over the posted limit. OK, 30%. 40%, tops...

Hey, man - sorry to hear about that.  Was this recently?  I haven't seen you post up about this before.  Good luck to you & hope everything heals up good and fast.

Thanks for the well wishes. The crash was  on 4/5 w/ a Thoracotomy done on 5/9 to repair a punctuerd right Lung and drain 300 Mls. of blood from my chest cavity that arose from one of the 4 broken ribs I got in the crash but wasn't found on the Emergency room CT Scan at the time of the crash. I had 1200 Mls. of blood and fluid squeezed out of my Chest cavity in a "minor" surgery done around the 1st of May without Anesthesia  by inserting 2 tubes into my lower left side and that led to the discovery of the reason for the Thoracotomy and discovery of the lung puncture. The crash details are posted under the " Crash Analysis " section. To add insult to injury...I got a Failure to Control ticket in the ER.

Yeeessh, DoubleEagle, that doesn't sound like fun...  Best wishes for a speedy recovery... [thumbsup]

As far as speeding?? Yeah, I do....a lot.. But I'm not stupid about it...  You know the scene in Ferris Beullers Day Off where Ed Rooney is running down the school hallway, and stops and walks every time he passes a classroom door??

That's me on the highway, ever time I pass a turnaround I bring it down to 70'ish, but in between'em?? Tough to keep it under 100.... [evil]

Impossible to ride at double digits when I'm forced to using them at all.

You never go over nine miles per hour on the highway?!  ;)

I suppose it's more likely that I should take this as meaning that you can't go under 100.

Just back from a ride.  First EVER ticket on a motorcycle -- I was on the 998.  I've been riding for 8 years, so my number was due.  Motorcycle cop, too! Frist thing the cop said to me was, "Whadya get it up to?"  haha.  I thought that was a good sign.  I honestly didn't know, so I said just that.  The good news is he didn't charge me with reckless driving, and just gave me a speeding ticket for 65 in a 45.  Bummmmmerrr.

Duck-Stew

I'm usually at 80-90 on the highways unless they come to a crawl in which case you'll find me splitting lanes at 10-20mph over whatever the cages are crawling at.

I tend to keep my speed to about 10-15 over whatever the limit might happen to be. I don't usually even look at the speedo very often. Just keep up with the faster part of traffic.
Unfortunately, I live in VA, the only state where radar is illegal, and the cops all have radar detector detectors in their cars. The fastest way to get pulled over? Have a radar detector on.
I do about 50% hiway, 50% city riding. Unfortunately, all of our roads around here are flat and straight. It's a good 1/2 hour to any twisties.

I went down on my #1 S4Rs, There is 1 mile on the R , and that was put on by the Ducati Tech at setup. The R was delivered to me in a trailer about a week after my crash, (#242 of 450). All I can do is look at it and wonder if I'll ever ride it ! The S4Rs came through the crash with alot of mud and grass underneath it but as far as damage ,all that is in need of replacement is the clutch lever which is bent. There are scuffs and scratches on the case covers but they only show up when you are within 5 feet of the bike. I think even though the S4Rs has been washed to get most of the dirt  and grass off , when I can a good cleaning will leave it looking like not much happened to it at all. Wish I was as tough as that Monster !

one of the reasons that i downsized from my vtr 996 to my s2r 800, was the speed and power issue. I mean the superhawk was no s4rs, but it still was a 1000cc twin and it was plenty fast. my friend on a harley passed me at around 100mph. so i hammered it and took the superhawk up to 161.  I was in a stretch of 128 in burlington ma. by the time i decided to slow down, it was like all of the other cars were coming at me in reverse, at 100mph! :o :o :o. I thought that those days were behind me, but its just so easy to gain momentum on the big bikes, i found it more enjoyable to ride a bike that cant approach those take off speeds. since i didn't want to ride that fast again, why bother to ride a  bike that fast in the first place. now, i ride a bike that is as fast as my 1986 ATC 200X!, now if i can only get it to sound like "johnsters", S4r, i would be happy. so the short answer is that i don't speed that much. when on the highway, i just try to stay alive long enough to reach my desired exit.  [moto]

yes...but in spurts. i usually cruise at 80mph and +100mph in spots. anything above 80 is too much blast for me to maintain high speeds. hwy's are just there to get me to the twisties.

My commute to work is a 60 mph zone...most cagers going 70 mph.  I try to get in the fast lane and run just fast enough that I do the passing (rather than the other way around).  Seems safer that way [thumbsup].  Puts me in the 75-80mph range and close enough to the rest of the traffic on the road as to not get cops attention.

Twisties...all bets are off.

Now, in my car I have some fairly serious violations.  76mph in a 35.  106mph in said 60 zone....this one came with a reckless endangerment and failure to yield to a police officer, which was bullsh*t.  You CANNOT see out of the back of an Exige S at all...there is no rear-view mirror.  Look through the rear glass and all you see is motor and inter-cooler.  When I saw him I slowed down and stopped...just took a while to see him ;D.  I was sort of proud that he said I came off the exit ramp (35mph) at 97mph...sick but true.
