S4, but who's keepin track... ;)

I rode by him today in Boston.....Musta seen the ol' lady on the Bikes of the DMF thread.....  8)
2001 MS4; Full Termi w/airbox, ECU, SPS cams, CycleCat ClipOn Adapters, Apex clip-ons, CRG's, MW open clutch, Sargent Saddle, CF aplenty.. NOT RIDEABLE FOR A LONG TIME DUE TO MY STUPID LACK OF JUDGEMENT!!

A lot depends on what state you are speeding in. I live in PA and locals can not use radar, they can use the lines on the roads and timing devices (VASCAR)...which is bogus IMO...but.

The State boys can use radar but only when sitting, not moving...so they get into unmarked cars and devious hiding places.

Any of them are allowed to follow you to clock your speed but they have to do that for 0.3 mile so I've been let go 'cause I'm sure they didn't follow the specified distance but just caught up to me and pulled me over for good measure.

Ohio is a different story (I am close and ride there often). They can hit you with radar, lazer from front, side, rear, stopped, moving...you name it. The good thing is that the tickets are cheaper than PA and they don't report to PA if you pay 'em quick. Thus no points on your liscense.

So "yes" I speed...every time I ride. I try to use my head and know where to do it but sometimes I miscalculate.

Use your head, eyes and on the highway keep it to short spurts to get out of traffic packs...or just to wind-up cage drivers...or show the boob in the pick-up   truck, or the teen in the "hot"car, who thinks it a NASCAR hot rod that his truck/car ain't squat.

Off topic: Did ya ever notice that the speed of a vehicle is inversely proportional to the size of the NASCAR sticker on the car??

I have been amazed at how fast and reckless somes cars and pickups would drive in the twisties to try and not let me get by them....but I always did !

Unfortunately I do and fortunately I do.  Whenever you try to follow the rules and have some dum dum in a car come flying by you doing like 80 you realize a few things if they mess up and hit you its their fault, but if you are flying and you hit them its your fault.  You make the call

I never speed.  [laugh]  Nor would I admit to it on a public forum... I know plenty of cops who read these boards and I'm a little too "well known" in our area to 'fess up to it.

In general I'm not flyin' on the freeway.  That's about the lamest way to get a ticket possible.  And what are you people doing riding on the freeway anyways?! If I'm on the bike, I'm takin' some no-name billy goat trail to my destination.   [thumbsup]

I never go any faster than 9 mph over the speed limit officially.  However, I have noticed that when I do ride at this speed lots of people attempt to jam themselves up my low mounts.  I guess they think they can stop their land yacht faster than I can stop my ~425+me pounds with full floating rotors.  I ride like I'm invisible.  I assume everyone approaching from the rear is going to rear end me.  I take action to correct it.

[laugh] You stole Stillie's line.  No, I wasn't talking about this:

Any of you has a radar detector installed? recommendations..?

That HARD led system seems to be a great idea. [thumbsup] but where would you put that bulky RADAR?

I do speed, but I speed defensively.  I try to go from one open pocket of traffic to another - I trust my ability to react to what I know is ahead over what I don't know is behind me.   When I had a commute I could make on the bike, I found myself in the neighborhood of three digits just about every time I rode.  And by three I mean 140.

I speed to some extent  ...I tend to accelerate hard and fast at the light, do short spurts of acceleration to get around trucks, and to get away from traffic clusters.   I like as much space as possible between me and the other guy to minimize the odds of something going wrong

Also, I'm pretty sure that that the speedometer on my bike is approximately 5-7 miles over on estimating the actually speed.   ..It may say I'm doing 100, but I'm really doing around 93.
