'74 supersport? '75? Something like that, although the swingarm looks like a modern sport classic piece.

Mid to late 70's SS is what I think it started out as.

The tank and seat look like later stuff, early 80's maybe.

Square-case bevel, alloy wheels, so it's definitely not early.......I'm guessing it began life as a late 70s Darmah.

Probably began life as an unlovely 860 gt.  if the whole bike goes with the forks then a Darmah. The tank, seat were both aftermarket thingd back in the day- the tank looks like a Hailwood Replica model, maybe the seat too. lovely torquey things to enjoy!  Of course I wish I had all my old bevel drives back but they were all inievietably sold and rep;aced by newer Ducs.   Would love to find another 68 wide case 250 scrambler. That would be my guess as well, At least the frame, motor and forks. the wheels look like the are from japan (not a bad thing in that vintage) and the tank looks like it is off a Panta.

The tank's off a Hailwood replica I think. The forks aren't OEM Ducati, the brakes would be in front if it were and would have had clipons if 900SS.  It's not E-start so I don't think it stared out as Darmah.  The seat looks similar to the Hailwood too. Wheels not OEM and rear brake different. Not OEM exhaust pipes and would have come with Silentium cans or kit Conti's with a cross over tube between exhaust headers before cans.

Probably did begin life as 79-80 900ss, but modded quite a bit.

My take on this particular machine from the pic is ,the guages are 900s taken out of their dash,forks are in fact 38mm Marzocchi turned around to adapt the calipers in the rear,front rotors are iron brembos,calipers brebo as well, the rear caliper was rather necessary to custom adapt to the Atralite wheels,atralite wheels are the brain child of Tony Dawson aka dawsonn hammsworth LTD,from the 70;s to mid 80's these spun alooy wheels were the ticket & legal in ama & many other fractions.Tony stopped production and builds SCITSU Tacometers and other guages for the road racing following that he has...shame those wheels are cool & rare.the frame lokking at the tubes is a 900ss frame ,the tank & seat unit is a product of any one of the after market vendors that made the Hailwood type tanks and seat available,juding by the the oil lines ,im guessing theirs a bigbore kit in their with the needed higher volume oil pump installed,carbs are 40mm dells PHM,pipe usuall 2-1 with a funny looking slip on....
