First off let me state that Braketech is an AWSOME company to deal with. I bought a set of Braketech rotors on Ebay last week and got a smokin' deal because the anodizing was partially damaged due to brake fluid coming into contact with it. Because I knew that the carrier was removable, I took a chance and bought them thinking I could take them apart and paint the carriers. It also looked as though the buttons were slightly sun faded so I sent an inquirey via the "contact us" link on the Braketech website to see if I could purchase them separately. This was last Saturday night at about 11pm. When I woke up Sunday morning I had a reply from Jeff Gehrs at Braketech answering my questions. ON A SUNDAY!!!! Additionally, Jeff was very patient answering all my questions and identifying which model rotors I had. As it turned out I got an even better deal than I thought as they are the full floating Axis Iron rotors.

Anyway, here are a few pics after I cleaned them up and painted the carriers.

These first two pic are to show the difference in weight between the stock snowflake and the Braketech. The difference is 10.10oz. Thats almost 3/4 of a pound!!!  Shocked  Thats saying a lot to because the snowflakes are not exactly heavy.

Stock-59.45oz

Braketech-49.35oz

Here is a closeup on the bike

Last one. On the bike. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention I have the mono tail on her now.

Nice rotors!

Sir, this may have been covered before, but can you go into some detail about the mirrors as well? They appear to have integrated turn signals.

You're going to love those rotors. I've had a set since 2004. I've been transferring them from one bike to the next.
You wont love em if you ride a lot in the rain though. Those things rust in a minute.

The mirrors do have intergrated turn signals. They are made in Italy by the suppliers to Ducati performance. They came with both the amber lens and a clear lens with an amber bulb. Over the winter when I remove the stock signals I'll chage over to the clean lenses.

Yeah, the only time I ride in the rain is when I get stuck in it on group rides.  laughingdp

Lol. It's all part of the master plan. I just haven't decided which signals I want to use yet. I may just block off the holes and jsut use the ones in the mirrors.

I have cast iron ebc rotors on my VFR... and now I have cast iron rotors on my Monster that I picked up at ECS here in the NY world... I have to say I have never had a complaint about em and the fact is that the rust they pick up is only in a few places that don't contact the pads... so Id say that overall they are a steel... lol pun intended... yeah its horrible but it made me laugh...

Oh and Question... you painted the carriers... what did you paint them with... or have someone paint them with... I'm thinking about painting mine...
