Huerta..argh!!  He just didn't have that fire in him that he had against The Carpenter.  Too bad.  He was the hometown boy here in Austin.  Good fight though.  Florian..is an awesome fighter!

GSP!!   waytogo waytogo  I said KO 1:43 in the first round, right?!  GSP would have had it too if he just finished him off in that flurry of punches!!  Oh well..another great fight under GSP's belt!!  Fitch hung in there tough but he just looked clumsy after a few rounds.

So,  after tonight..I'm even Less-nar than impressed with the product from the WWE.   Roll Eyes  What an azzhole!  Go back to showboat wrestling!!  Big deal he overpowered and literally destroyed Heath but that attitude??  WTF?!  Lesnar almost won me over in the pre-fight interview/show at his place in MN.  But..the laughing, poking fun and smacktalk after the fight.  Roll Eyes  Have to give it up for his opponent for being able to stay in there.  Herring's face was mashed and his back and sides are going to be f'ed for about 6 months after being on the receiving end of those knee shots.  D*mn!! Shocked  Anyway, hopefully Dana tells Lesnar to STFU before the next fight and be a bit more respectful!!

+1 on all of that.  I wasn't impressed with K Fed, er, Ken Flo.  It looked like Huerta wanted to fight and J Lo wanted to dance.  I give him credit for winning the fight but that's about it.

Lesnar showed great wrestling skills but looked lost out there.  He spent the entire fight in dominant positon but he did very little with it.  And the whole ride em cowboy thing... that was lame.  If I was Herring I would have sucker punched him after the fight.

I don't know what was up with GSP either.  He looked like he wanted the fight to go to the judges.  He had multiple chances to knock Fitch out but he didn't capitalize on them.  It just seemed like nobody was interested in finishing their fight.  Everyone had chances but nobody took them.

Funny that everyone thinks Lesnar's "Showboating" is bad.  Heath Herring does the ride em cowboy everytime he wins and he was talking a lot of shit about Lesnar before the fight.  Herring was able to do nothing to Lesnar.   Anytime he wanted Lesnar would just throw him down or get on top of him.  I can't even imagine what Herring's face and sides look like today.  I get that Lesnar didn't do a whole lot with Herring when on the ground but his stand up looked good and people like to forget that Herring is one of the better heavyweights in the UFC and this was only Lesnar's third fight in MMA ever.  Herring has something like 40 fights under his belt and has fought the best heavyweights in the world.  I'm sure that Lesnar will work on his Jitz after this fight.  Lesnar was just throwing him around like a little kid.  After this fight I would bet that there are not many heavyweights that would want to fight him.

If you think that Dana White would tell him or any fighter to not show off or shit talk your very very wrong.  When he was managing Tito and when they were getting along Tito was the biggest shit talker out there.  Do you forget the last two Shamrock fights where after he won he was walking around acting like he was digging a grave?  Doesn't get anymore disrespectful than that.  White absolutley loves that kind of stuff and I'm sure he couldn't be happier with how bad Lesnar dominated Herring.

I just don't get why people hate on Lesnar.  If had just come into the UFC with 2 fights under his belt and had never been in the WWE people would think a lot different.  I guess it doesn't really matter though becuase he is only going to get better and everyone better get used to seeing him because he is going to be fighting in the UFC for a long time.  He'll have the belt within a year and a half.

We just got back from a new restauraunt that opened up <1 mile away.  Paul Buentello was there last night for the fights.  I guess he is a local.  The name didn't register until I remembered he fought Gilbert Aldana (one of my old clients in AZ).

So, how long is it going to be before H-D takes over the UFC?  Has this been discussed?  I just had the thought when the fighters were standing on the H-D mat before the fight.

**I don't like poor sportsmanship.  I didn't care for Tito's antics either.  I did like him for his coaching on TUF and his wins over Shamrock.

Herring's appearance before the fight was comical.  I was glad to see him get beat.

Herring has fought some of the best HW in the world but I think of him as a "supercan", a guy put out there to lose to the best guys in the weight class, not the star they were hyping him as. The hate for Brock comes from him having one fight and thinking he was ready for the UFC. He should have done some other fights in lower orgs work on his skills so he was above the usual wrestler "turtlef#cking" no finishing skills and then I would like him. And I think BJJ blackbelts are lined up around the block to fight him.

And Dana could care less about the showboating, nobody talks more shit that Dana, who is he to tell anyone else to stop. Dana is too busy rubbing his grubby hand together after this show went perfectly: El tight shorts lost so Dana pull a "told you so" and doesn't have to pay him, Brock the "star" won so he can hype him, and GSP won so the Penn/GSP supefight can happen the future.

I agree that he probably should have had some more fights before coming in but I think that is more White's fault than anyone else.  People shouldn't hate on him because he is inexperienced.  Shane Sherk does that bs all the time and he was the champ.  The difference here was that I was entertained the whole fight instead of bored.  Those knees to the body are more fun to watch than stand up. Ouch!  If you watch this fight he was much more polished than his first fight which I thought he got screwed on anyways (two of the stand ups for back of the head shots to Mir were complete bull shit).  Obviously his striking is way better and there is no one who can stop him if he wants to shoot them.  He said himself in the post fight press conference that he still has a whole lot to work on.  Once he gets better at jitz he is going to be unstoppable.  That being said, Noguiera would crush him right now and anyone with better stand up than Herring and good at jitz will give him trouble.

That first right that brock threw suprised the sh!t outta me, it looked liked a punch! Grin And the flying knee before that Shocked  But those knees being more fun to watch...not really. Painful to watch but not more entertaning. And I don't like Sherk either, maybe it's just me and the style I like. This fight did look alot better than the last.

Herring has fought some of the best HW in the world but I think of him as a "supercan", a guy put out there to lose to the best guys in the weight class, .... snip snip snip...
"Supercan"... heh.

More accurately, Herring is a "gatekeeper."  He's not quite good enough to rise to the top of his class, but you've got to beat him to show that you've got the skills to challenge for the belt.  Herring played the same role in Pride... always a bridesmaid, never the bride.  Other than having decent kickboxing for a big guy and some submission defense, Herring's most notable trait has always been that he'll fight a bigger, tougher, guy pretty well.  Well enough to drop the other guy a couple times and occassionally grind out a win.

Guys like Lesnar are a nightmare for bangers that can't grapple.  Herring is used to powering his way out of ground control, which wasn't going to happen against the bigger, stronger, wrestler Lesnar.  What irks me is that Herring has been in MMA for a decade and can't seem to apply a triangle... there were points where Lesnar was just open and sloppy on the ground.  Someone like Big Nog would have wrenched off an arm and taken it home.

Shifting gears>>>>

If I'm Ken Florian, and I just beat everyone that's anyone in the 155-lbs class, I run into the ring and hit GSP with a folding chair as soon as he starts talking about a superfight with BJ Penn.  Ken Flo earned his shot at the 155 crown, and has as good a chance to take it from Penn as anyone.  If BJ goes up in weight to 170 for another crack at GSP, Ken Flo has to fight someone for a vacant belt.  He'd much rather win it or lose it to the actual champ.

And BJ Penn should probably think again about going up to 170 for a piece of GSP.  St. Pierre is a machine right now.  I don't think it would go as well for BJ if they met right now.

I agree that KenFlo should be upset.  He deserves a shot at the title before Penn should get at chance at different belt.  That being said a match between GSP and BJ Penn would be awesome and I'm sure it is going to happen.  I just think that KenFlo should get his chance first.

I think that BJ Penn is a much more focused fighter now than when he first fought GSP.  That match could really go either way but I think it would be a war.

Lesnar by 'rear naked blanket'.  Props to Herring for not giving up; damn, he took some shots.  The right opponent WILL expose Lesnar's weaknesses; Big Nog, for one.

I'm just starting to follow this sport so forgive my ignorance. I missed UFC 87 but I was happy to see KenFlo won and GSP. Other than that most of my interest was on one of the under card fights. Tamdon Mc Corry vs Luke Cuomo. The fight can be seen on the UFC web site for free but Tamdon pretty much ruled all 3 rounds. Tamdon is 11-1 now and I think he's going to be up & coming. The reason for my interest is, Tamdon is one of my instructors along with Eric Charles who had a short stint on TUF 7. I'm too old and broken to think about competing but it's pretty  cool to have  guys like that to learn from. So give Tamdon some bacon
