You can't prove that!

I'll bet John still has the receipt...

True.  However, he or Holly might have taken pics at your party.

I don't think Serra has a chance.  Hughes hasn't looked all that great in his last couple of fights, but Serra isn't in the same league.  It was a fluke that he beat GSP and he shouldn't have even been in that fight.

I don't remember the last time I saw Hughes fight. Didn't he retire after that last beat down. This is just a fight between 2 guys that really don't like each other that are way out of their prime. With that said, Matt Hughes can suck it.

Serra has much better standup than Hughes.  If Serra can stuff the takedown, and keep the fight standing, he has a very good shot.  Additionally, Serra does have very good BJJ; a ground fight isn't a given for Hughes.

Carlos - Hughes has said he is retiring after this fight.

I'm really kind of on the fence on this one.  While I'm not a Hughes fan, mostly becuase of the way he coached on TUF not his fighting, I think he might take this one simply because it will be his last fight (or so he says).  With the feelings between the two it should be a heated fight.   Standing is definitely the way for Serra to win.

I agree with Sinister (for once Grin) that I would like to see a Serra beatdown on Hughes.

How about Evans/Machida?  That one is going to be awesome.  Evan's aggressiveness against Machida's elusiviness and counter punching.

That is going to be a great fight. I really hope Machida can frustrate Evans and pull out a win.

Did you guys hear that Jose Canseco has a MMA fight at the end of the month against a 300 pound Korean guy I just saw it on MMA Junkie. Is he desparate for $ or what?

Machida by flying noodle choke.

Seriously, I think Evans is going to get frustrated, do something dumb (or lots of things dumb) and Lyoto will capitalize.  I respect Greg Jackson, and his ability to put a plan together, but I think the weak link will be Rashad's ability to execute said plan.  Rashad is kind of an odd, unorthodox striker; this actually works well for Machida, who loves to counter off his opponents.  Machida also has great lateral movement and uses angles very well; all of these will help frustrate Evans' attempts to land punches.  However, because of his unorthodoxy, Evans can be dangerous from almost anywhere.

If Machida uses kicks, in combination, effectively, he will break Evans the striker down to Evans the wrestler, and then the 'plan' goes out the window for Jackson.  If the fight goes to the ground, I think Evans is in trouble.

Serra over Hughes and I'm thinking/hoping by KO.

Machida over Evans..even though I like both, I think Greg summed it up well.

Also..Korean over Conseco  Roll Eyes

Predictions:

Machida d. Evans.  TMA Krotty pwnage!  I don't see any aspect of Rashad's game having a distinct advantage over Machida's except for takedowns, top control, and G'n'P attack, but I think Machida's ground game is strong enough to keep from losing the fight there.  He'll stay busy enough in the event of a takedown that Rashad can't grind him out.  Other than that, Machida's gonna do what he does... move, counter, move, counter... get in, land, get out... again and again.  I see this fight being way more one-sided than most people seem to think.

Huges d. Serra.   Hopfully they both get eaten by a bear at the end of the fight and we don't ever have to listen to them speak again...

McFedries d. Unpronounceable sumpin-sumpin.  Who cares?  As long as they blast the shit out of each other instead of hugging the whole time, I'm happy.

Sonnen d. Miller  Miller's probably more well rounded and experienced, but I just like Sonnen's game.  If he's got his head on straight, he can take this.

Sherk d. Edgar. Sherk is hungry.  Edgar's in trouble.
