Regarding Lesnar/Fedor I don't think it would be that quick.  Lesnar is to strong. If Fedor can keep it standing that would be the best way to beat Lesnar.  Maybe a choke but not an armbar.

Dana just announced that they pretty much gave him everything he wanted except the co-promotion with M-1 to the tune of 5mil with ppv rights and he didn't take it.

Smells like big fat Russian PUSSY to me.  Let's face it if you really want to call your self the best fighter in the world then you should want to fight the best competition which Fedor really hasn't been doing lately.  The way I look at it he is scared to fight in the UFC because he would actually have to fight good fighters.  I personally like Fedor and think he is great but this is a bullshit move.  I get it, he wants to protect his legacy by not losing but this just sucks. We all know he has bad takedown defense so the cage will probably hurt him.  Mir has crisper hands and comparable BJJ, Carwin and Lesnar could knock him out and certanly outwrestle him (probably giving up 30 pounds at least to either) but I still think Fedor can beat any of these guys.  You can hate on Lesnar all you want but I guarantee he would jump at the chance to fight Fedor along with all the other HWs in the UFC.  I guess I'm just disappointed that he is not coming because I really wanted to see him fight good fighters not tomato cans and has beens. 

Hopefully this is just a snag in the road but still sucks.

I have a hard time seeing Fedor as a pussy in this situation.  Maybe a bad businessman, but not a pussy.  Heck, if anything, Fedor wants to fight more - this is the guy that turned down contracts that wouldn't let him defend his sambo titles.  That says the competition outweighs the compensation in Fedor's mind.  That tells me that he's aware of his place in the fighting heirarchy and aware of how history will judge him, and says to me that he wants the best competition on his record.

Why that didn't override all the bullshit with teh M1 co-promotion is beyond me.  This really makes me suspect those M1 guys are Russian mobsters, and Fedor can't just walk away from the deal without being harmed - just like half the guys in the NHL in the late 80s and early 90s were paying big chunks of cash to local organized crime back home in the USSR.

Dana wants the fighter, just not the M1 baggage.  Fedor wants the fights.  But M1 insists on being part of the deal, and that has gotten it all sideways.

The best competition on his record?  Who has he fought in the last 3 years?  UFC cast offs and nobody's.  If he wanted the best competition on his record he would be coming to the UFC for the chance to fight Coture, Lesnar, Mir, and Carwin.

I doubt he's a pussy. He might be a greedy asshole, but I doubt he's a pussy. I also doubt he fears Lesnar or anyone else. I think he's an asshole that wants baseball money. Remember that the UFC is after him, not the other way around. I'm sure he knows that Dana wants this fight REALLY bad. I doubt this is about his sambo championships and even less about the Russian mob. He's a capitalist to the bone and unless the UFC can come up with a shitload of guaranteed money, he ain't fighting. Not really surprised, if he wasn't going to come to the UFC where else could he go.  I think it would be funny if he fights Bret Rodgers and gets knocked out.  But really, how long does Strikeforce really have?  We'll see him fight in the UFC eventually.

I'm pretty sure at this point that he's trying to make a definitive statement that he doesn't want to EVER play in the UFC. He signed on for the EA Sports MMA game title as well. It's not as if Dana hasn't been perfectly clear where he stands on that issue as well.

If this is in the contract, I'll fight Fedor twice tomorrow night. He'd need a team of bodyguards to stop me from fighting him at every turn. There'd be YouTube vids of me jumping him at the supermarket and nightclubs, then peeling myself off the floor and wobbling out like "I fought him again, Gina!  We're back up to fourteen!  C'mon and make with the contractual obligations!"

I think this might be the straw in the Fedor joining the UFC. Of course we all thought Kimbo would never join, but he's going through TUF, so you never know. Fedor on TUF 2010?

The only reason I think we'll see him is that Dana wants him to fight and like we just saw with Tito isn't afraid of hiring guys he doesn't like and that Strikeforce really can't last that long even with Showtime.  As soon as someone they have under contract fails a drug test they'll be gone too.  Then Fedor will have no choice in where to fight.

Anyone catch the lead up show?  I love those things.  I thought BJ finally looked like he was training hard enough.  A well conditioned and pissed off BJ could mean a very bad night for Florian.  I will like to see how well Florian's Muy Tai holds up against BJ's boxing.

Would love to see Forrest beat Anderson just to give him the motivation to fight Henderson.  Probably won't happen but I think Forrest poses some problems for the Spider.
