I agree with you there probably wasn't enough heavyweights to have 16 fights the first day.

I also think they didn't want Kimbo to lose and not be on the show.

That happened with the "Carpenter's" brother. All hype and he got knocked off the first day. Keeping Kimbo in the house would definitely be one of my top priorities if I was Dana. He probably knew that without Kimbo, people would not watch this season. Most guys worth a damn fight in lower weight classes even if they have to cut an obscene amount of weight.

What happened with Rampage, did I miss something?

Yeah, Kimbo is a huge draw this season for peeps who probably wouldn't watch it otherwise. I still like the show cause you get some idea of what kind of people they are. I had no idea how amusing Rampage was til after he did the show. I also don't tend to like arrogant pricks, so it's cool to get a feel for them before deciding to be a fan.

Ducarlos. Yeah Rampage is "retiring" because Dana didn't show proper respect for his acting career after he backed out of the Evans fight because of scheduling conflicts with his new movie. The A-Team.  [roll]

Watching this past week's show. That big guy sucks. When you take someone down, it nullifies your height advantage. He had 0 technic on his feet. He was tired half way through the first round. The other dude wasn't much better.

Another boring ass fight last night. I'm done watching the heavyweights.

I agree,

Kimbo actually looked very good striking wise.  Fat ass Roy sucks my balls.  Funny how he was so cocky afterwards and Dana was so not impressed.

Not impressive at all... as noted on the show he did just enough to win and nothing more.

So they've set it up like Kimbo's gonna get another shot next week... I'll stay tuned for that.  I don't see it going differently, but I'll stick it out for another week.

Otherwise, I agree with the other comments... this season is bringing the dull.

///looking forward to Machida / Rua already.

I really don't think Rua is going to give Machida a good fight.  Machida seems just about unstopable right now.  Should be a nice knockout or submission though.

With winter time coming up hopefully they'll start pushing some better fights all the way around. From UFC to TUF it's all pretty dull right now.

Nelson fought a supreme strategic game.... and extremely dull. You may will fights but you'll never draw like that. Thus you'll never get the big money. People like to see some action, we aren't watching a chess match, we're watching MMA. Strategy is absolutely part of it, but his game lacked.

Lets face it, Kimbo was tagging him bad with some powerful (and quick) punches.  The dude had no choice.  If he fights like that in the semi's and doesn't win TUF he'll never fight in the UFC.  Dana hates boring fighters.

It's no secret that Nelson had to take it to the ground to keep his head on... but once on the ground he needed to do something beyond the paddy-cake punches he was delivering. He had a number of openings for legitimate submissions, that were little to no risk to his position - but he skipped them. Tactically he won... he even said he was going to win in exactly the fashion he did, so he executed his plan to a T... but as noted.. he'll never make top tier with boring stuff. So I guess we're all saying the same shit...

So, on to speculation. Let's assume Machida wins (I think he will) do you think they will toss Belfort at him or woudl there be a couple fights before Belfort gets a title shot?

From what I have read, Belfort is going to fight Silva next.

Which weight class? I was hoping to see that match up too - just figured that it was less likely since one fighter would have to change weights
