Strikeforce had nothing to do with stopping the fight, even though  agree it was premature. refs and judges are contracted out from the nsac or csac, and the Dr are usually personal, in this case contracted by M1

Of course Strikeforce didn't stop the fight, their inexperienced doctor did. Thus, the inexperience of Strikeforce showing through. Strikeforce and M1 Global co-produce the fights. They choose who to hire for doctors. Just like a Realtor hires an "independent" appraiser, fight promoters hire "independent" or personal doctors. Strong chance that guy won't be hired as a ringside doctor for any future fights. As far as the refs and judges...the refs are experienced enough and know who is who and when to let a fight go. Judges? A crapshoot all the way around.

M1 is not at all connected to strikeforce. The only reason that SF co-promoted the event with them is so that Fedor could be in it. M1 is Fedor's psychopathic management company and very much the reason why he never went to the UFC. So the doctor stopping the fight ultimately falls on Fedor and his management.

I'm not saying that SF isn't inexperienced, just that they're not to blame for the stoppage. You can tell M1 is green by the huge mismatched they make in order to put on a "show"

Hi all. I'm new to this thread.

I watched Rampage Jackson's greatest hits on video last night.
It really brought home the courage needed in 'total' fighting when coming back from knockout losses to win the next fight. It makes the committment of these guys all the more  honourable. Even the best can make a mistake and lose.

I thought boxing and kick boxing were hard sports! We have a wrestler (3 x State Champ) coming into our group to swap wrestling techniques for striking. At my age, I'm not looking forward to the exhaustion of fighting on the floor with a twenty year old. I'm gonna have a heart attack before he pins me.

Our training group comes from different martial arts backrounds and we 'barter'.

Glad I noticed this thread.
Cheers.

Good luck with the wrestling! It's amazing how some of these people will manhandle you, but dont get discouraged, just remember you can alwas knee them in the face when they're shooting. (JK, though  wrestling is the facet of MMA I dislike most)

M1 is connected to Strikeforce in exactly the way you just wrote. The only way to get Fedor is to co-produce with M1 Global. So the event last night was promoted as (from the Strikeforce website) "Strikeforce and M-1 Global Present: Fedor vs Silva". I know all about M1 and the bullshit they pulled with the UFC. Either way, it shows that Strikeforce AND M1 are green. If it was a UFC fight I guarantee Fedor would have went into round 3 until the ref decided he couldn't protect himself/his eye.

Either way...looks like Fedor's mystique is fading.

The doctor was probably scared that if he would let Fedor fight and he got more make the beast with two backsed up than he already was that some Russian thugs would make the beast with two backs him up. Being a hired doctor for M1 is hazardous to your health. Fedor has lost a step and he could have cashed i by going to the UFC when he had a chance when the heavyweight division was ripe for the picking. Now that Fedor has lost 2 fights, they can either try for a huge pay day and retirement or a lot of seller opponents.

I hate the wrestling piece of it, mostly because it's really hard to pick it up. BJJ you can learn most of the moves and simply practice. Wrestling is a whole different beast, more instictive.

Quoted for truth.  The match-ups that MMA lost out on when M1 screwed up Fedor-to-UFC... just shameful.

I'm wondering if Fedor could see a resurgence if he re-considered his approach to training.  I look at Couture's ability to remain competitive long after his physical dominance had passed and think Fedor would benefit from something similar.  His base skillset is there, his will to push himself to extremes in training is unquestioned... but he can't expect to continue to compete with younger, faster, arguably better-rounded competitors just based on his resiliency alone.

I think the Rocky-vs.-Drago training regime needs a big injection of gameplan. I'd want see how Fedor fared after maybe hooking up with a camp that handles older fighters well before I wrote him off.

That said, he could walk away no with no shame whatsoever.  We may never see another heavyweight fighter accomplish what he did in MMA.

And on the undercard... I can't believe Mark Hunt is still fighting.

The BJ-Fitch fight truly promises that someone is gonna go to sleep. Too bad that someone is probably going to be me. God I hate Fitch's cuddle-you-to-decision style.

Bisping-Rivera could have an upset. Yes I know Bisping and his incredibly fast pillow hands will probably outpoint Rivera to yet another decision, Rivera is a pretty damn solid journeyman that can totally Hendo Bisping again. Hell, Rivera was holding his own pretty well against Silva until the knees of death caught him.

Soti-Siver: Please god, please, let us see another spinning liver back kick of doom. I dislike Soti intently.

Lytle vs who? I'm pretty upset that my boy Condit had to pull out. That would've been just about the most exciting matchup at 170. Lytle should put this away in the 2nd, either by Submission or TKO from mount.

Noke-Camozzi: Noke should take this via decision or sub in the 3rd. But Camozzi's pretty tough, and can get the upset.

I can't believe that Fisher-Pearson isn't on the main card, FOTN right here. Should be a pretty fun little brawl.

Mark Hunt: Facepalm. That is all. I can't believe this is the same guy that brought us a win againt prime Crocop, a war against Fedor and one of the best K1 fights in history against Sefo.

Fitch by snooze fest
I hope Rivera (have you guys seen his videos? Not so funny, but anything to piss off the British Douchebag)
Soti
Lytle should have it easily (I also wanted to see Condit back in there)
I'm feeling Camozzi
Pearson in a bloodfest

Don't care for the rest.

Well that was interesting.

Penn-fitch: I had Penn winning 29-28. Not sure how that last round was a 10-8 since all fitch did was lay there and not improve his position.

Soti-Siver: YEEEEEEEES! That is all.

Bisping Rivera: I had Rivera winning until Count Douchebaag threw thosae two illegals. And then make the beast with two backsing spit on Rivera's cornermen?  I REALLY hope he gets the title shot after Okami so I can enjoy Anderson rearrange his face. Bastard.

Holy make the beast with two backsing Ebersole out of left field Batman. Cartwheel kick FTW. I guess Lytle's been pretty exposed. Condit wouldve murdered and raped him.

Noke-C: can't say I'm surprised, but expected ca$ozzi to put up more of a fight.

I could see how it was a draw. I did have BJ winning the first 2 rounds 10-9 each. Fitch pummeled BJ that last round and I did count it 10-8 cause he was pretty much relentless on top.

Soti and Lytle were both exposed. Those takedowns were sad to say the least. And Lytle, WTF?!?! He was looking good until the knee pretty much took him out for the rest of the fight.

Rivera had a strategy. If I piss Bisping off enough, we'll go toe to toe and maybe I can knock him out in the first round. When that did not happen, he simply gased. What ever happened to cardio?

Camozzi looked sad. Noke is good, but you know that you can at least attempt to defend against a rear naked choke, right? The guy just laid there.

Hunt's fight was just funny to watch.
