This week I installed new handlebars, a new throttle control, new grips, and a new front brake lever.  In my haste and excitement I didn't make any markings or observations on the positions of anything. on the handlebar.  Nothing has been tightened down, and I haven't drilled any holes into the handlebar yet.  Also, my old bar is all bent up, so it's really difficult to discern where the placement holes really were anymore.

I've seen a lot of variation in the photos of other members bikes with how the throttle is positions, with the cable going over as well as underneath the brake lever.

My question is does it matter at all how things are twisted or placed horizontally, as long as they're not snagging or stretched?

As long as you're comfortable with it, and it doesn't hit anything, go with it.

I wouldn't bother drilling the bar for the switches, just remove the nubs, wrap the bar with e-tape, and throw them on.

"I" do usually drill for the throttle though.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was thinking, just drill for the throttle.  e-tape does make sense as well.

i removed the nubs on my controls, a lot of people do. it works just fine.

That isn't a big issue to take the nub off the throttle?  Would some tape underneath be enough to hold it in place adequately?  That would make things a great deal more convenient . . .

absolutely. go for it.
just grind that little nub off with a dremel, or even a hand file (it's just pot metal, pretty soft) and then you can put it on however you see fit. a little electrical tape underneath gives the metal a nice squishy surface to bite into. really just once around with the tape is enough.

here is an important note:
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE TWO SCREWS THAT HOLD THE THROTTLE ASSEMBLY IN PLACE.
If you do, you will split the assembly right in half. Ask me how i know. Others have done the same thing.

Got everything on.  Took the nubs off everything, throttle isn't budging.  The electrical housing for the headlights/horn/choke was a big pain to get back on, and that is twisting a bit.  I should have put a little e-tape underneath, but now I'm reluctant to open it back up

Apart from some adjustments needed to the throttle I think it went smoothly.
