going thru that thread, I was so geeking out over that bike, I missed the BST's! Then someone mentioned them further into the thread! Had to go back & look.  That bike is frickin' awesome!  The tank issue is one thing that would keep me from buying an SC.  That & the fact I won't have the $ for the next few years. For those following along/contemplating:

<FURIOUSLY jotting down ideas>

'06 Sport 1000.........................~$5,000 (Salvage title.)
BST wheels.............................~$3,000
Ohlins Suspension.....................~$2,000
Zard exhaust...........................~$1,500 (Add $500-600 to have someone reflash/tune the ECU.)
Custom aluminum tank...............~$1,000 (Totally scientific, wild-ass guess. Prolly more.)
Rear Sets (Same as a 2001+SS)..~$400

He's also got Oberon mirrors, a top-mount steering damper, aftermarket triples, Rizoma grips, a SuperSprox rear sprocket, an aftermaket clutch slave cylinder, BrakeTech front rotors, Brembo 4-pad calipers, and a GT 1000 front fender. Oh, and he's had the seat re-covered.

$15,000 would be a STEAL.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Here is a custom made aluminum tank on a Sport 1000.  Made by Evan Wilcox of the Tankshop

That is one sharp looking bike.    :)

My Dealer , Motohio, has a Paul Smart w, 900 miles.

Seems an older guy had bought it and couldn't get used to riding position so he parked it until he traded it recently.

It has a full Termi system .

A very cool scoot that I would have liked to have had but with the S1000RR coming , no room.

i havre a question, im on a long search, a walkabout if you will, to replace my 696. Im tired of it. some of you may have noticed me saying i wanted a harley. thats over, thank god. now i want a sport classic, with zards. starting to look for used ones.

my questions

1. how much is a 2004 ish SC going for?
2. how much are zards for it? cant seemt o get it answered on zards web site
3. can you ride two up with the zard exhaust?
3-a. is it possible to switch seats from a monoposto to biposto with that exhaust? is it as easy as popping a seat off? what about panier foot pegs?

thanks guys

im craving one sooo bad

Have you looked at the GT1000? If you're talking two up riding, you're probably going to like the GT1000 much better than the SC.

DucatiTorrey

same thing i thought, whats the diff?

after reading Ducati.ms, i noticed for the zards to work you need a single sided shock on the back, ami correct? is that model just 2004?

and

does anyone know anything about this bike?

tjhanks a ton guys!

oh oh oh

what would a 2009 696 go for with termis, DP ECU, tail chop and 6700 miles on it go for? maybe 6500? 7000? (hopefully)

Ah, they didn't have the Sport Classic line in 2004. Am I reading your post right? 2006 was the first year and the SC1000/Paul Smart had the solo side mount shock. That was the only year.

I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

Fixed it for you.  There is/was no such thing as a Sport Classic 1000.  Sport Classic is/was the model line, and Sport1000 is a model.   [thumbsup]

DucatiTorrey

ok, so after 06 they added dual shocks? is that the only year that can have that sweet zard set up?

Sort of.  There are a few '07 limited edition mono bikes floating around out there.  They're basically left over '06s that got a snazzy paint job and a numbered plaque though.

The Zard system that you are referring to is very nice, but it is also quite pricey and hard to come by.  Rumor has it that Zard quit making them a while back.  BUT, you can always get a similar system for the biposto bikes, if you don't mind going through NCR that is.   [evil]

Thanks. Fumbled that one... kinda like the Cowboys. [laugh] Think I'd know better since I have one. [bang] [laugh] [laugh]
