I'm ok with vaccines that have gotten rigorous clinical testing, but I'm not getting flu shots.

I have gotten HepB because I sometimes work with blood products in the lab, I wouldn't get it otherwise.

I disagree on rubella.  It's mild to kids but very risky for pregnant women as it has a high chance of causing birth defects.

That's fine.

If you don't get rubella as a child and want to have children, get vaccinated before you think of getting pregnant.

Problem solved.

Works for people who actually plan pregnancies. ;)

What did women do before all the miraculous immunizations?

Women still do occasionally which is really unfortunate.

Which immunization stops that?

getting one of the principles fixed should do the trick.

unfortunately, that creates a whole other issue....

They had a higher chance of having a child with health issues.

I would agree that at least it would make sense just to give it to girls as they reach puberty.

I'd love to know what it is supposed to be in the vaccine that triggered the debilitating milady this young woman suffers from.

What else are we/she exposed to on an everyday basis?  Methyl Mercury in our air from coal fired power plants? It's in fatty fish we eat too.  Carbon monoxide? It's everywhere.  Toluene and xylene and even small amounts of benzene? It's in our gasoline and we breath it as we fuel our cars. Food additives? In everything we eat. We live in a sea of "hazardous substances" too numerous to list.  One could go on and on and not run out of physical and chemical insults we all endure form living in this world on a daily basis.

Was a threshold reached in this poor woman's case of something else than what was in that flu shot? We don't know.

There's just no ...... no make the beast with two backsing way to say that the flu shot was responsible for her case.  Correctly applied epidemiology may tell the tale about this and other "shots" in the future. Did you take statistics?  They made me.

Otherwise healthy kids have been dying from H1N1 flu much like many of the 1918 swine flu patients - not the old and very young maybe?

This is VERY early in the season for so much flu. It could get real bad. I hope not.

Dog help us if an avian virus that NOBODY has any immunity to hits us.  Could make the black death look good.

Do what you think is right for yourself and your family.  I will take the shots and will have my children do so also - if they get here on time.

As always YRMV.  Best of luck to you and yours. [coffee]
