I played with a Droid a bit. Very similar to the iPhone. Not as slick, but if you don't want to deal with AT&T, then it's an excellent phone.

I have had an HTC Eco 4G for about a month now. So far it has been great and does everything I had hoped. The 4G sprint network is very fast by phone standards. I also really like the Android platform more than IPhones I have played with. Android is much more customizable.

I'm seriously considering switching from an iphone to the DX. My main hangup is a lot of music wth iTunes.  I'd love to be able to load those music files onto the droid.

so there are alternatives to transferring Iphone/Itune music to other apps and phones?  I've looked and haven't found anything easy enough for my dumb ass.  I'm personally growing sick of Apple and their no flash, locked system, everything through Itunes or else attitude.  It's my phone.....

It's no secret guys.

You download an app onto the droid called doubletwist.

Then download the desktop doubletwist app onto your computer.  (PC or Mac)

Doubletwist then imports all of your songs, playlists, videos, ratings, everything, from itunes.

Plug your droid in and sync it just like you would an ipod or iphone and you're done.

Took me about 45 minutes iirc start to finish for about 14 gigs worth of music.

i tried double twist and got hung up on something or other (this was over a year ago.) ended up using a more time consuming method to achieve the same result.

They must've fixed some stuff with it b/c it worked absolutely flawlessly for me.

I have been using my trusty hacked vx8300 for a few years now. Being able to tether the phone to my laptop and access the internet thru vcast.
But upon learning of the Droid 2 r2d2 edition coming out at the end of next month, the time to upgrade has finally arrived.

Keep the tricks coming. Wife got me the Droid for Fathers day. I have always said I didnt need a phone that does this or that, but man its sweet. Just need a few pointers to make it a bit better like this above. Thanks....

Smart Phones can be addictive. I've met my share of people that thought that they just needed a phone to make calls. I was definitely one of them. Then you realize how many other things you can replace with a smartphone. I only use my laptop for work. No need for a GPS. I only need to find a free way to watch porn and I'll be in heaven.  [evil]
