A couple of weeks ago several friends of mine and I traveled to Robbinsville N.C. for 4 days of riding. I trailered and they rode as it was my job to haul the gear, beer, and Patron, dry county. My Harley friends were real troopers as it rained 300 of the 550 miles, jeezzz, but they still had fun.

My favorite picture and story is having to haul Marty's Road King (Black Betty) over the tail to Maryville for a warranty call at Smokey Mountain Harley. Great shop, they are open for service til 7p.m. Black Betty had stripped the splines on the shift rod, bummer. They said if we got there at 6:55 they would fix it.  I had a hoot driving the car, that ole Merc was smoking diesel and getting round corners. The freaky part was coming back over the tail in the pitch black of nite, wheeew..

The roads were great and the traffic was not bad.

On the way home we were already planning our next trip, looks like late April or early May. Maybe I will see you guys there.

!986 300 SDL.....440,000 miles on her....

I drove yesterday to Washington D.C. for 2 weeks of work from Gainesville, Fl. checked my gas mileage for the trip...It was almost as good as the S2R1000..... an amazing 36 mpg cruzin at 80 mph...

Towing the trailer to the Tail with lots of beer and patron , and luggage and every set taken achieved 27 mpg.

Yeah, I have looked at new cars but this puppy is a Panzer, is limo big in the back seat, and is just so comfortable to drive...

The last of the Mercedes as we knew them were built in the early 90's... after that they lost a lot of that reliability we were accustomed to.

That 300 of yours is a good car... We also have a 300CD that is a family driver...After I drive the panzer for a while and get in the CD she seems "Lambo" quick....

Well then, we should go sometime. I too live in Charlotte and several guys I know here would like to go. I used to live relatively close by and have been numerous times (crashed twice). It's definitely worth doing at least once.

I work weekends but with enough notice, I can take either day or the weekend off.  Send me a PM if you have something brewing.  Do you do the Euro bike thng @ Mac's Speedshop?
