I've had my bike now for almost a year, a daily driver, sold the car. I spend a lot of time with this bike. Do most maint myself. I've had the bike in two shops, the most recent I feel very confident in. But my bike just does not seem has fast as it did. A few times the CO has been off. And excuse my ignorance, I'm not entirely familar with the total fuel system, but I feel like there's a unresolved issue that keeps causing performance to change. The bike use to accelerate fast and hard, it now feels it takes a few secs to kick in, also seems not to rev as hard, like the engine is giving out sooner. All I can go by is past experience, my daily rides, and of course, sounds. I'm an audio engineer, and the bike just doesn't sound the same. At the 12K/base gasket, I had all filters replaced, throttles syched etc. They said all looked well. But the throttle link,  at the body was a bit sticky, we lubed it. Also replaced the cable. I just don't have money to keep throwing away, chasing a problem. Just curious if anyone else has experienced a similar issue. Even considered the fact that maybe I've just gotten use to the bike. I read somewhere once that an S4 set up like mine has 120wrhp, sure doesn't feel like it.

If your sig line is up to date, here's some data on what an S4 with that setup does on a dyno:

Basically, 105 HP.
As usual, YMMV, as dynos differ.

The recent replacement of all the filters eliminates them as suspects.

Do you have the OEM ECU to try?

Pretty sure it wouldn't work due to the immobilizer, but '01 S4s seem to be more tolerant, so it may be worth a try.

crap is driving me crazy. I love my bike, but geesh. I found a bike co-op here in Nashville, may see what some of the veterans can suggest.

In addition to a full tune up (CO set, iilde set, TPS reset, TB synch, fuel & air filters, valve clearance set, oil & filter) you may want to do a compression check and get the cams degreed.  If that's all in order and nothing looks off, is it possible you're just getting used to the power?

Wow, sad times when a Termi equipped S4 v-twin doesn't have enough torque.  Too bad there's no 12 step program for Ducati addiction.  ;)

I love my Duc, but I love speed and my neck snap more. Maybe the bike just needs a few tweaks. I would never part with her, least not now I have 8K in her, and the market is so sour.

You have another thread were horn affects tach.
Combined it sounds electrical/ECU related.
Battery/charging OK f e?
All earth connectors good?

well like I posted in the other, the bike has been wonky on start. It's the battery that came with the bike, a Bike Master or something. May be time for a Yusa. Today, when I turned the key to lock, someone at work told me my lights were still on, weird. I'll track a Yusa down, see if it helps these issues. I need a new one anyway, the mechanic said the trickle charge was showing it really low. And the lights look dim on the gauges.

One tiny notch past lock is park, which is park with the lights on.  This will drain your battery.

lmao. I was late and in a hurry this morning. This all started a month ago, I got a flat, left the lights on while I was on the roadside, battery was drained, shop trickle charged, he said it looked pretty low. Cheap battery to begin with, I'm sure it's time for a new one.

If you want to confirm the battery is bad, fully charge it and have a shop load test it.  If you want to replace it just for the hell of it, that is fine too.  A weak battery and electronic fuel injection can cause some strange symptoms, and changing a battery prematurely is not a bad idea.

thanks for the input. Another odd issue I forgot to mention. When filling up, I start the bike, it backfires, a pop that seems at times to come from the throttle body. Only does this after I've filled up.
