Looking for a good FPS for the PS3

I'm looking for a mindless FPS game. I just want to blow stuff up. Don't care much about plot. Boom. That's it. I'm looking at Borderlands right now, anyone have it? Any good?

COD is great, and in campaign, very, very plot driven.

my vote for mindless asskickery is still left4dead... but you gotta play multiplayer. find one to three friends and spend hours on end in zombie-slaying shenanigans  

*it's just as fun playing offline,  doing the old school split-screen stylee

I love my Call of Duty........I actually teared up at the end.  Awesome video game!

ahhh mind numbing violence....those were the days.....

A buddy and I used to play a bunch of games like that our favorite after work game was Battlefield - we'd never play on the same team and always try to run the other down with a jeep, or better even, I used to love trying to dive bomb a WW2 bomber into him as he was looking for me on the ground!! 




Quake 3 was alwasy great for rocket wars and mindless killing too!

Read reviews & they seemed to like it but wanted to see from a non paid person what they thought. The big thing is that people say they have to hit the square button too much to pick up new stuff and in that game you have to pick up a lot of stuff.

It's been since before I moved I played the PS3, just been using it for movies. I had updated everything & started downloading a bunch of demos. Borderlands didn't have a demo, just some movies that didn't show crap. I'll start playing some demos for a while now.   I downloaded the Katamari demo - dumb game but I can't stop playing it.  It'll probably be like my iPhone, I download a ton of the free games but only paid for one full game so far (Ragdoll blaster, awesome game).  Though nearly all iPhone games are crap anyhow.

I think it's better than the hype so far, I've only been playing online (no campaign yet). You have more guns, upgradeable perks, way better graphics, bigger maps, more mass killing support weapons....etc. The earliest I've been to bed is 3:30AM the past couple of days, because of it. Forgot to mention this is on the 360.

I can't remember, but one of the (old) board members might have actually worked on CoD. I seem to remember him working on CoD5 but that was a while ago.

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed with that too. Then I remembered that I'm more of a PC shooter and not so much of a console shooter. 3rd person games like RE5 I like on console though. I never could get a hang of the depth perception for melee weapons on shooter games regardless of platform though.
