They are the best. What did you have?
Sometime you have to try the lardo. Yeah, it's just fat, and I know that sounds weird, but trust me on this one. Lightly toast some baguette slices, then put some thinly sliced lardo on the toasts, and eat while still warm. The fat kind of melts into the bread and you get this pork rush biting into it. A good trick to slice the lardo is to chill it a bit then use one of those cheap slicers (the Japanese kind that looks like a little paddle) to slice the lardo.
The lonza is also excellent. And their Italian sausage is the best. And.. well you see I could go on and on.

I haven't tried it yet but learned about the place from your FB post. I'll be sure to visit Boccalone some time soon!

Droool.
And don't scoff at lardo. I've never had it, but I've had the Polish equivalent (made with beef & pork fat along with garlic) and it's gooooood.

Is Joe eating meat these days?
That place is good, but like everthing in the ferry building, serious $$$! $9.00 for 8oz of pasta sauce
If I had tons of dough I would probably eat their salted meats with truffels from the mushroom place on fresh baked bread, and maybe even a little cowgirl cheese on the side, every day... maybe even some caviar if I was feeling particularly wealthy
That head cheese looks delicious... NOT like the stuff in the Russian deli near my house.
Mouthwatering is MM's picture "The Temple of Jamon" ! I day dreamed about grabbing one of those legs by the hoof and eating it like a chicken leg.

Been tempted by the t-shirt, but I always end up buying sausage instead.

Oh yeah, that place was to die for. I kept wondering if I could smuggle a haunch back into the US without the USDA beagles ratting me out. Then I'd kept flashing on
Midnight Express
and decided against it.

I was in the ferry building last Saturday. The place was a zoo, had to get out of there. Is it always that packed? I haven't been in there since it's been renovated. Looked pretty nice, but I couldn't figure out why everyone on the east side of the city had to be in there at the same time. I felt like bailing out for the wide open spaces of Chinatown. Maybe its just a Saturday thing. It used to just be the "walk thru" from the ferry building.

Man I'm glad I peak in at other boards. I am a huge fan (pun intended) of cured/smoked meats. I ordered one of their sampler packs this morning for the holiday party season. Wish I had something like this in DC.......

Saturdays and Thursdays when the veg. stands are out are the busiest times. Other days is is pretty mellow.

DQ hasn't consumed any food with a face since 1995.
I'm

lover.
Joe's new office is a stone's throw from the Ferry Building so I may send him over there some Wednesday.
