Awesome, thanks for the effort...maybe this should go in the "How To" section?

Also, I noticed that the relay contact numbers are different in your two drawings.  Which one is correct?

Thanks again!!

sorry, didn't catch that and it is definitely confusing....only did the first drawing myself and the wiring connections are correct on that one, will change the third picture to one with the same terminal orientation...the actual pins on the bottom of the relay are arranged in a diamond pattern but are clearly numbered, thiis one has an extra pin 87a but is similar to a 4 pin relay

No problem, thanks again.

I was thinking of picking up a wire assortment on the way home tonight.

Does anyone know the gauge???

OK, so I wired this up this morning...

I soldered the diodes and color-matched wires to the relay, and then connected the wires to the headlight harness as per the posted diagram.  I double-checked all the connections, and even taped larger labels for the relay connectors to the outside of the relay.

However, when I turn the key to the "ON" position with the high-beam switched on, there is light coming out of the headlight.  Not much, but some.

The bike starts and runs, and when the headlight switch is moved to the low beam position, everything works normally.

What did I do wrong?   ???

nothing [thumbsup]...that is just the little 4w parking bulb in the headlight shell, didn't realize it was on myself until after the mod, had to have been this way already but never noticed it w/ the low beam on...I'll edit my original post to reflect this, should have mentioned it in the first place
