M1100 Headlight Trick

I think this is the right place for this.

I haven't seen this posted anywhere before so here goes.  I found this out yesterday when I was filling up my tank and tested it again tonight to confirm.

Hold the selector on the left grip up or down when you turn off the bike.  When you release the selector your headlight will go on and stay on for about 60 seconds.  The rest of the bike is off, just the headlight is on.  I waited at the gas station to see if the light went off to confirm. 

This is going to come in really handy when I pull in my garage and the bulb is out and I don't want to just hit the kill switch, find the light, go back and shut the bike off.  I can let it do it on its own.

That's mentioned in the owners manual for the 696, the 1100, and the 848.
Probably also the 1098, 1198, etc.

What do you mean by holding the selector on the left grip?  The trigger for the high beams?  The low/high beam selector or the turn signal selector?
