I'm having a whale of a time fabricating a bracket for the KTM headlight I just picked up. Anyone who's done this mod have any kind of schematic/plan?

I haven't heard of anyone fitting up this headlight but I am interested to see how it turns out. As far as fabbing up the bracket, every bracket I have made has started as a cardboard template and has taken a couple of iterations to get right.

how's the headlight bolt up on the duke?

side mount? bottom mount?

+1 on the templating... one offs are just T&E but templates are a good start

I've gotten it most of the way there with steel joist straps. It's certainly kind of a makeshift attachment. It looks as though it bolts flush onto the KTM frame; not an option with the Duc. Thanks for all the help!

Hold the light up where you want it, snap some pics, and we can go from there. [thumbsup]

Soon as the enamel/paint cures, I'll slap it up there and snap some pics. I have a much deeper respect for those who *really* fabricate stuff  [bow_down].

Finally got the KTM headlight installed. Took substantially longer than I'd anticipated, but I'm pretty happy with the result. Of course, any time I set out to do something mechanical I should probably just triple the time estimate.  [drink]

Been watching this thread.  It is why I'm doing a group buy for headlight <edit> electrical <edit> connectors.  There are a couple of pics on this board of other folks with the mod.  I can't find the thread at the moment.  One mounts it very similar to yours (2 mounting points) one mounts it using only the original mounting point.  I'm going that route and will post pics whenever I find time to fab the brackets out of some AL.

My search-fu is weak today - here is that post on others that have done this mod - http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=5383.0

Angler, where is the group buy thread for this? I didn't even think there'd be any kind of kit for mounting a KTM 990 light to a Monster.  [popcorn]

There is no KTM mounting kit.  I hope my post wasn't misleading.  I don't want to cut apart my stock headlight wiring so I can easily reverse the mod.  To do that, I am buying the female connectors (headlight) side, shortening the pigtail on the KTM light and installing the factory connector.  My stock wiring stays the same and, if I don't like the light, I can swap the old one back easily.  Here is the thread on electrical connectors http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=28574.0
