Another craiglist scam

So I found this craiglist the other day:

Thought the price was a mistake so I emailed the owner.  Got a reply today, and yeah, it's another scam:

Hi,
My 2004 Ducati Superbike 749 S is in great shape,no engine problems,damages or hidden defects. It was always garaged. I`m a single mother with 2 children because I divorced my husband. After the divorce I got this beautiful bike but I don`t need it and that`s why i`m selling it so cheap. The total price is $2,500 including shipping and handling. The sale will be through eBay's Protection Program for our safety. I have recently moved to Canada after the divorce and I took the bike with me, that is why i am sending it from here. The bike still has American papers so you will not have to pay any Customs taxes.
I just need your full name, address and phone number so i can open a case.(with no further obligation to buy it or fees).

ask what city she is in and then whatever she says, tell her you have a friend there who has agreed to go over and test ride it for you.

Or you could tell her that you're paying by cashier's check for the full amount plus $1,000 which she'll need to wire back to you. Oh, and your shipper will be contacting her.

I'm not even sure how this scam would work. Does the scammer really believe somebody would find a deal this "good" that would just send over the money, and not think it was too good to be true?

You should respond by saying that you are a Philadelphia native but is in Nigeria for business.  You really want the bike but don't have any way to wire her the money since all your bank information was left in the States.  Ask Emma to send you her bank account information so you can wire her the money from the local bank in Nigeria.

Chances are, both of you are using the same Nigerian bank.
