i know lisa's husband alan has used his stop n' go kit to plug tires on his sprint, and rode the tire for many many miles afterwards with no problems.

I had a similar situation last year, my research results...Yes, it is better to buy a new tire but no one in my riding circle or friend of a friend has ever heard of a mushroom plug failing.  In fact one of the locals has multiple his current sport bike tire and has for a while with no problems.

I decided to finish off the final 1,000 miles of tread and then replace, all was well.
