I fubar'd the engine in my 2000 M750.

I pulled the Fubar's engine and purchased one for a 1997 M750, from a member on this site. The stator in that engine has a different connector then what was on my Fubar'd engine.

My question is, can I just swap the stator?

Also FYI this is the thread that I the 97 M750 Engine from.

I *think* you can swap the stator, flywheel and case from the 2000 onto the '97.  Smarter folks than I will clarify, I'm sure

I took the cover off of the 97 and compared it with the 2000, everything matches until you get around the front sprocket. they are shaped slightly different in that area. I only spent 30 minutes on it last night but I'm not sure if there is a way to get these to work, I might need to somehow rewire the harness to accept the 97's stator...

Throwing the stator swap idea out of the window. It just won't work. What would I have to do to get the two stage stator to work where the three stage was? Two wires going into where three were?

Any ideas?

You would need to use a single phase regulator/ rectifier, which could be purchased here:
