ran out of fuel for the 1st time today...I knew what caused it too..

phark, she doesn't even cough...just deadly silence....should I have tried to shake her or start her up again after she died....I just locked her up and got walking.

remember back in the day when aussies were helpfull? now there a bunch of frickin crabby greedy brats, I had to beg a guy at pedders for his old empty oil container (I then returned it to him after filling up, he obviously cherishes his trash!) and the indian bloke at the seven eleven...he was shacking his head before I even got the sentence out, not a drop of empathy.

so keep your tanks full people because the public's hearts are dead empty.  Sad

180km total (city riding).....I had 10 litres at 150 and then figured (at 15km a litre) had 40-45 and then at 30km into the reserve she was gone.

ah well, had to do it once!

got it past 260km from Portland to.....colac....and then onto.....ah....yeah, there....

but I had here in 6th gear and was at 5000rpm so was therefore travelling at the posted speed limit of 110 all the way  Wink

Freaking S4R fuel range. Monday morning after the GP, 7km short of Grantville, sat beside the road for 1/2 hour with a dry tank  Cry

I know I've said this before, but, city commuting = 100km and light comes on.

Maybe I should visit bike boy.

So speaking of running out of fuel stories, I can't recall the kms, but on my first M800, I recall a similar train of thought and calculations.... And I too, was wrong..

Anyone who has run out on the FI bikes will know that they don't splutter and die - they just die! Ran out at in the RNP, just coming down to the Audley weir - lucky for me, I was at the top of the hill - rang the bronster who promptly came to the rescue on the vespa with a fuel can between the legs on the floorboards.... got a lot of shit for that one (and still do)

Much like my effort after WSBK trying to stretch the K's out of the 620.
A few hundred metres past a servo, one little hiccup and coast to the side of the road.
Call certain people down the road cause it was easier than doing the servo walk.  Embarrassed

S4RS

« Reply #22 on: December 02, 2009, 08:59:27 PM »

I've had my S4RS for almost 12 months now and pushed it to the petrol station 4 times. Twice I've managed to start it again and cost in!

If your using it for commuting the milage varies greatly so moral of the story is when the orange light comes on I know I have to get to a fuel station in around 10Km.

On the open road it does a lot better but with the full termis, ECU and light flywheel she revs hard and sucks it dry........ Heaps of fun though and I wouldn't swap her for anything.......(much)

Its a bit of a hassel having to visit the petrol station every third day to refill. I was hoping that CA Cycleworks was going to get the new larger plastic tank up and running but they only have it for carb. monsters.

You think Huh?
She is from SBK stock.
I have the new AMCN which has a 9 bike test of the current crop of naked bikes.
