I've heard many times that the fuel range on an S4R isn't that great. As an S4R(s) is on my list of potential next bikes how bad is it in terms of average km's on a tank? I wouldn't have thought it would be that different to ducati super bikes.

Weekend ride saw three of us riding S4R. My first fill I put 12 litres in and had done 165k's city riding. next fill was 10 litres I think and had done 120k's reasonably hard riding with the folks in my backyard, great squirt down Mt Keira and back up plus the RNP and a few other roads.
While on WSBK tour earlier in the year the same bike usually reached 170-180 before seeing the light, meaning it would likely reach 200-ish before needing a full fill. This was also some very sensible riding over 600-700 klm days.

Peak hour light comes on after 90kms. I'll get between 100-110km adding 10.5L to the tank.
Fun in the twisty's roughly 140km to bone dry.
Cruise on the open road up to 180km (but who rides like that!).
Overall quite shit.
Buy mine if you want [moto]

I'm generally around 130km before the light comes on. Full Termi system, open airbox, DP ECU.
On a related note - what's the most fuel you've ever put in? I was crapping myself after the fuel light had been on for nearly 40kms, but I could still only squeeze a touch under 13 litres into the tank (with the bike on the stand).
I filled it to the absolutely full mark one day by sitting on the bike as I refueled. The servo dude went off at me as though I was the biggest criminal in the world... End result, it only leaked out through the overflow when put the bike on the sidestand I went in to pay for the fuel!

2008 S4R (bought it new in March this year) only mod has been the Termi's. Aside from the initial stuff-up by Frasers Concord (they don't know how to put wheels on), it's been faultless for 11,500kms. I use it as a daily rider although i cycle to work more than ride now due to the good weather. We are moving out whoop whoop next year and i can't have a bike with such a shitty small tank (it's worse than my old VTR1000). I'd be fueling twice a day. Besides, i bought the wife a CBR1000 on the weekend which looks brilliant and it's given me the itch to get a full fairing bike.

There you go Struba a bike ready to go for you, just get a mid pipe to eliminate the lovely utter and hey presto wicked S4R for you.
Q777 that's pretty low, considering it's a 14 ltr tank with about a 2 ltr reserve and 2 ltrs or so taken up by the fuel pump. I just went about 35k's over reserve light on the weekend.

Thanks Serious Groper looks very nice, I'll keep it in mind. (PM sent)
Matty does your S4RS run a different tune than standard (DP chip etc) with that Akrapovic exhaust?

You can either cut the lid of the airbox to help it drag in more air. You can also buy it in a kit with ECU and Exhaust.
