Hi,

Don't know if anyone here was watching this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160381442855&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I was. However I did a REVS check on it and it's been listed as a repairable write off.

Just wouldn't want anyone to buy it not being aware

Thanks for the heads up I have been following it.
But I have also been looking at the black 749 from The Apple Isle.

As long as the work has been completed well there is nothing wrong with a repairable write-off.
Usually it is all cosmetic damage but sometimes it is also a scratch on the frame that can write a bike off.
Very silly but true in the fact that the labour to take a bike apart and have the frame sprayed and put back together
will often out weigh the cost of the bike.

In Victoria the Bureaucrats (VicRoads) Changed the rules pertaining to Repairable Writeoffs and the Engineering Certification required by the people to inspect and issue certs for the reregistration of the vehicle!

The resultant fallout being that in Victoria it is virtually impossible to reregister one of these bikes. And the demise of businesses like Bob Martin Engineering has happened because their main reason for being has been removed. Shocked

And insurance companies left with damaged bikes they cant get rid of and wreckers with bikes they cant sell. Roll Eyes

Onya Vic Roads, good one Dickheads. They have since attempted to backpedal but the damage has been done. (The collective intelligence of a mongoloid monkey with sunstroke??)  Angry

So Vic people who are contemplating doing this, and it might be a cheap option, do some research and think hard about it!  Undecided

Yeah it could have been only cosmetic damage but for me I'd always be wondering. Could have a slight in the bend frame without any cracked welds and never track true. Initially the add didn't say that it had been a repairable write off but I noticed it now does.

I believe there is a guy who's been straightening frames with VicRoads approval somewhere near Tullamarine since early this year. I read it a while ago, could track down details if anyone wanted, just making a statement I can't be fagged getting the details for at the mo......

Ahh, here he is.... http://local.yahoo.com.au/business/4.66406894692409/mcr-motorcycle-crash-repairs/tullamarine

As previously stated, I think they could be a mine field of problems waiting to happen, unless you know exactly what happened to it.  You would want to get it pretty cheap to cover yourself & the possible costs to get it right.

The price certainly looks cheap.....especially if your only looking for a track bike!

I went to the auctions a little while ago and the repairable write-off section was packed full of people (more than the other areas!). I won't mention the 'type' of the majority people that was in that area.... lol.

Anyhoo if one thing is clear is that the prices these guys were paying were astronomical. Fked up bikes getting prices $1k less than you can buy the same used with zero damage. All the supersport bikes got prices like this which to me made no sense at all. Scooters and touring type bikes attracted jack all $$$'s.

What does this tell me? Either these auctions are filled with stupid people who failed Maths at school OR re-birthing is a booming business!!

Maybe i'm paranoid but that paranoia came in extremely handy when selling the Aprilia and MV Agusta. Dodgy sht is rife out there and from my personal experience is it's all from the same 'type' of person. So i steer myself clear from either selling or purchasing to that 'type'.
