Calipari is a sketchball, man. I didn't like him even at Memphis. I hope his ass gets SNOWED.

i feel a little better because I was able to steal a pair of his leather sandals from his office in the FedEx Forum a few years ago. and I ain't givin' 'em back. Now, more than a bit of memorabilia, its spite that makes me hold them ransom.

ATO what is the deal with the NCAA sanctions against Memphis.  Did Calipari, break a bunch of rules again and then leave
your school holding the bag?

Seems to be the slimy-est coach since Tark-the-Shark.

Yep. Convenient of him to bail despite Memphis offering him more money than Kentucky did... with pending charges on the horizon.

More interesting, Memphis appeals the vacating of all the wins... Apparently the NCAA thinks that when you appeal a punishment, it opens the door to affix a heavier punishment. Talk about discouraging an appeal... that's not how its supposed to work.

The most interesting part is the NCAA botched job - they cleared him for eligibility twice. So Memphis plays him. Rightly so, they'd have been stupid not to, he was NBA rookie of the year the very next year. It wasn't until months after the season had ended (may) that they decided to declare ineligible, making Memphis' playing him a 'crime' after the fact. Our legal system doesn't let you do that, but the NCAA thinks its fine for their system of rules.

Anybody but Kentucky!!!

I usually pull for UNC if they are playing, unless they are up against somebody like Gonzaga. Its just fun to see the small schools keep up.

Looks like Memphis isn't doing so bad anyways, but the possibility of post-season sanctions can screw us big time.

I think of Gonzaga as a bit like Ducati.  A little Jesuit school of 5000 or less that takes on the Goliath big money programs.
Much like Duc taking on the big 4 from Japan in racing.  There team has a toughness it never had before, they could go a ways come March.  I'll be pulling for them.
