 oil drain plug ??????
the 10mm allen socket in my S4 drain plug is spinning ...damn...its always torqued propely but the alloy has still stipped ,OK getting a new drain plug will be a hassle in thailand but how to get the dud one off is immediate problem as I want to change oil. should I try a bigger allen key jammed in or a drift?

i don't have one in front of me but i might drill two small holes on opposite sides.  put a pin in each one then turn it -- but only if the plug is big enough and thik enough.. i can't remember offhand how big/wide it is.

if you can find a torx driver big enough, that is much better to tap in than a larger hex wrench.

small chisel and hammer is good.  just go slow and tap tap tap it out.  hope you can get the bike up in the air for that, not much room to work on the ground.

go slow.

ps, drain the oil from the side plug first.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. Hammer and chisel has worked for me a couple times.

Even better is if one side of the chisel is sharp, to cut a notch, and the other side is dull, to actually do the work of turning.
That helps to not just chisel off a chunk....

Torx driver is a good bet, if you've got one that fits well.

The plug is brass, so the chisel will cut it pretty easy.

You can buy a bolt extractor for not too much.

you could also buy an 11mm allen socket, and file/sand it down to fit your plug. this has worked for a few guys... the plugs are prone to this exact problem. i haven't had it happen to me yet, but i will be replacing mine with an aftermarket one anyway.

Once you get it out, replace it. There are many aftermarket ones available that won't screw you over like this... i'm sure some places can ship to thailand, just look around on ebay and our sponsors pages for one.

TPO parts has a nice one: http://www.tpoparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=209
Jeff @ Monsterparts has a really nice, simple one: http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/OS-25-00001/Accessories/OS-25-00001.html
There are many more out there.

I tried a bolt extractor/ easyout it chewed things up worse now i have a huge smooth round hole in the middle that nothing fits and cold chisel aint shifting it either ...there is nothing meaty to get a bite on ..i reckon explosives are the next option.

I am going to leave it a day or so and cool down and have a think.
i managed to get a nice aftermarket replacment with a nice big external 22mm wrench head just got to get the old one out.

Do you have a large Torx bit that almost fits? Hammer that bit in and you should be able to turn it...

dip it in oil, then in some sand, that should provide more grip as well.

OK .......at last success ...Yep SEMTEX did the job ..blew the damn thing straight thru my house along with rest of Bike unfortunately the anti terrorist police are now after me.
No seriously I resorted to brute force smashing a 3/8 drive bar end into the mushed hex with a big hammer then it came off easy with a ratchet on other end.
But I am going to put aftermarket big bolt head oil drains on all my Ducatis.

I haven't had trouble like this w the plug but I have always hated it.  I might swap to a different type.  Elsa makes industrial plugs... Hmmm

you could JB weld an 10mm or 11mm allen key in there. or a jb weld a hex head in it... it shouldn't be on too damn tight.. jb weld is pretty strong stuff...
