Not to mention the mirrors...  that will have to come off for something better.  I don't think I am going with bar-end mirrors this time.  I will for sure put on some mirrror extenders on it.

I was also thinking that the stock pipes would come off and I would just go with the udder for now...  Well, it's not like I'd able ride anytime soon.  It will at least amuse me for a bit.  Hopefully by spring time, I'd be able to acquire all the parts!

Excellent choice--exactly the same as mine.  Happy modding over the winter.

2008 S2R 1k.  Black.  Pazzo Levers, 14 t front sprocket, CRG Hindsight LS mirrors, Cycle Cat Frame Sliders,  Oberon open clutch cover and gold/black EVR pressure plate, full Arrow exhaust with reflashed and mapped ECU, tail chop with gold Rizoma Avio 21 turn signals, Ohlins rear shock and Rizoma fluid reservoirs.

I am loving this post.  I've been on the 620 for about a year and a half now and have set my sites on upgrading to the S2R1k.  Constantly viewing ads just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I'll be interested to hear how you enjoy the upgrade.   [popcorn]

PS - nicely done on the negotiations with the wifey.  similar talks going on in my house  [thumbsup]

Great Wife and Great new Bike [thumbsup]

I've ridden for 35 years and am very happy with my S2R1000. It's a real keeper, makes a great bike stock and has lots of potential for future mods.
IMO it is THE BEST looking monster ever built as well ;D

We were basically in the same boat.  The 620 has been an awesome bike for me in the past year and half but sometimes I just wanted a little more - a little more grunt/power for highway riding/passing; better feel of the suspension.

My first few weeks on the bike has been great (when weather permits).  First of all, the suspension difference is huge, coming from the 620.  In city, it's a little stiff.  But when you get up to speed and in the twisties, it's awesome.  It's not the greastest but compared to what I had, it's night and day.

The power is plentiful, at all range (over 3500rmp).  Cruising on freeway is effortless and passing is just a little turn of the wrist.  The 620 felt like it's missing the 6th gear and passing on freeway often required downshifting.

On added bonus of the S2R1K is the dry clutch.  Clutch cover and pressure plate is on the way.  :D

Noticed you're in Seattle...head down to the next track day/WMRRA day at Pacific Raceways and have Barry set up your suspension for $40. Huge difference!

Nice bike.  [thumbsup]

Which cover/pressure plate did you decide on?
