Coroplast?

Back during the 2009 election season, I chaired a citizen's group that put an initiative on our local ballot (we kicked their butts, 66% to 33%).

It leaves me with an interesting problem -- I've got dozens of campaign signs in various sizes made of good, sturdy Coroplast (it's like corrugated cardboard, except in plastic sheeting). Though they'd be perfect for building a shantytown on the outskirts of Rio, I can't really think of anything constructive to do with them here. They make GREAT target backing for shooting, but I've got several lifetimes worth of 'em if that's all I can think of...

Any bright ideas?

I think you should build a fort out of them

Some guys like to make little tail sections for their recumbant bicycles out of it.

I once tried to make a tiny evap cooler for my garage out of the stuff.  I called it "swampy".  Didn't work so well and had a minor flood in the garage. :(     [laugh]

Make oil catch pans for the shop?  Parts holders?  Stack 'em together for an archery target?

Perhaps a local church/school/boy's club/girl's club/YMCA/YWCA could use them for their own signs, pasting something over them.
Or maybe they could use 'em for art projects?

In architecture school a bunch of friends built a gigantic digital vagina out of coroplast...

My granite guys use it for templates.  Cut into 3-4" wide strips x 8' and hot glued.  Works great!

Think local!

Contact Anthony Brown at the Ecosa Institute (architecture school) or Mary Hoadly at Arcosanti (in Cordes Jct) and see if either of them could put them to good use.

Acrosanti may even be able to arrange a pick up.   [thumbsup]
