I hate that.  Amazon did that with a gift for my niece in AZ.  I was just there for an early Chrsitmas and her present wasn't.  Good thing it wasn't her only gift.  I ordered it weeks ago and promised it would ship and it didn't.  They sent me an email saying that it wouldn't ship until February, and then it shipped the next day.  How can they be that out of touch with their inventory?  She will get it before Christmas day at least.

That is exactly what i said when i called.

Some people got a $10 gift card, which i told them was just insulting, and to make the beast with two backsing keep it, and send me my make the beast with two backsing order. They said, it's in the warehouse in New Jersey. I said, fine, give me the address, i'll go pick it up tomorrow.. Then all the sudden it was still with the MFG... right...
I'm feeling like i got the ol' bait & switch...

Thought about it, but I really like the form-factor of the nook, as well as it's features.
It just fits the person it's meant for better than the kindle.
She hates Amazon too... It's wierd. Some type of ungodly hate for the company for some reason... Unexplainable, but a factor none the less...

I heard they were doing this like 2 weeks ago on NPR. I think it's annoying, but no more so than Sony and Nintendo leaving people hanging for months and rushing from store to store looking for a product that doesn't exist.

it's OKAY. but not what i WANT to do. it's just disappointing for me, i was really excited about this surpise, thus me ordering it so early.
we will wait until it arrives to do presents. luckily it's for the best person i've ever met, who is very understanding and knows what xmas is REALLY about.
