Immobilizer Removal

Over time my immobilizer has gotten worse and worse (not that it was ever worth having).  I filled the gas this morning only to get stranded by immobilizer issues when I went to resart it.  Spent a half hour trying to ride it away but ended up having to walk home.  If it hasn't been stolen by the time I get back I want to eliminate the immobilizer entirely.

My question is does anyone have FHE with immobilizer elimination ECU reflash by Ducati Depot?

I recommend it strongly!! I purchased a reflashed ecu from them 6 months ago and have loved it ever since. I got stranded by my immobilizer twice after rain got into the gauges. That was all it took. I now have a new gauge set on the bike, and am immobilizer free. I think I paid $425 for the ecu, it arrived within a week, and it was also loaded with a DP map to fit my slip ons and pod filters. The bike runs like a champ.

Thanks accrocker.  I was hoping you'd chime in.  I read your previous thread but it ended without resolution.  One (or more) of the components in my system is failing and I have NO INTEREST in restoring a system I think is junk.  Stranded sucks!

I wholeheartedly agree! The stock ducati electronics are dodgy at best. I am much happier with the bike now that I don't have to worry about being literally left out in the cold. I am testing the (hopefully) final version of the acewell 4000 right now. I have had it on for about 2 months with no issues. I think that they will probably go into full production in the beginning of 2010. I will post pics once I have the wiring harness cleaned up a bit. You can check my last thread about the gauges in the accessories and mods section to see pictures of the older unit. The only difference is that this one is flat black to match the body on the bike.

Ducati Depot returned my contact.  $275 to remove the immobilizer from my ECU, 2-3 weeks turnaround.

Paralyzer removal - $275.
Having your duc start when her husband is driving up the driveway - Priceless!

I've read before that some people got bikes from the factory where they neglected to set up the immobilizer.  Is there any way to tell if the immobilizer is active without trashing the system?  Just curious since I really Like accrocker's minimal single gauge solution and want to know if I need to add the $275 into the mod price or not.

Smeone posted up a link of DP ECU flashed that you can purchase for $350 instead of having to wait for a flash.

Easiest way to tell if the immobilizer is working or not is to unplug your gauge cluster and try to start the bike. Alternatively, you can unplug the antenna from underneath the ignition lock cover and see if it will start. In response to he man, I had previously posted that I purchased a reflashed ecu from ducati depot without having to trade in my stock unit. I don't know if they do this anymore or not, but I would assume they do as they still have ecus listed for sale on their ebay page.

They may do the DP ECU on a purchase basis.  I didn't ask 'cause the S4RS is running fine and probably has more ass than anyone can handle anyhow.  Who needs wheel stands in 4th?  I'm just looking to get out from under the immobilizer.
