New chain option question

can some one help me with some chain advice please
looking at these two below, which is better and why
or what else would you recommend for my M695/S
also 500 or 525 what is the difference

I am also going to put back the 15T front sprocket as it is still new and go up three teeth on the back with this

you want to stay with a 520 chain, the 695 isn't nearly powerful enough to think about a 525, which is heavier. Also, your stock gearing is 15/42, if you want to go back to the 15 tooth sprocket, you should consider a 44 or 46 tooth rear sprocket. I put a 46 on mine and it's much improved. 525 is heavier than 520, the 14t front sprocket will have caused accelerated wear of the chain due to the tighter radius, the 15t front and larger rear sprocket has merit, less wear on the chain and chain guide, less tension on the output shaft bearing. as for a chain, go for the best you can afford, there's X ring chains that are supposed to have less drag and seal well. Buying an expensive chain is no guarantee of a long life though, whichever one you get make sure you lube it regularly.

 you will also need to use a 525 front sprocket.

Go for the EK 520MVX2 in gold.
And get a screw link then you or we can do it with out any special tools.(you can borrow my stand) too easy

The old carbed 750 in the garage used to eat the 520 chain, it was not really up to the job, but once I changed to the 525 chain life was dramatically improved with a lot less time between adjustments.

Yes the 525 is heavier (not really that much) but in the real world, unless of course you are in the last 5-10% of your performance envelope, you wont really notice a loss in performance or suspension operation!  

The 750 didnt lose any economy with the larger, heavier chain and chain life was much better, even with the old dinosaurs neck snapping, arm wrenching power output!! [moto]

Waiting on a part that is out of stock so don't know when it will be in ,also Matty wants me to add something for him too.

We will have to organise an Old road cruize soon , my son would like to come up on his mini monster so a slow
pace run for him would be nice [moto] be it a little hard to control the right wrist though but I can always just hang back with him and catch up with the pack at the cafe.

that's quite interesting.  did you change gearing or chain grade / sealing ring spec as well?
