Best decision I've ever made.  It has probably saved me 1 million dollars in the long run.

Got mine done when I was 22. I'm sure they do it differently now, but the two injections they gave me just about made me puke it hurt so bad.
I would be disappointed if no one had to go through that anymore ;)

Anyone know the likely hood this procedure fails and doesn't take?

Do you go back and get tested once in a while to be sure?

Is it reversible?  I've read yes, and I've read no.  Which is it really?

After a month or so, and several 'cleanings', you submit a sample.
I was told it is possible to get it reversed but not 100% successful and I would think it involves some sort of lengthening to replace the cut out part.

My doctor gave me some lidocaine lotion as a script before the procedure. Supposed to put on an hour before and wrap your boys with saran wrap. I put on 1.5 hours before and then another hour before.

I didn't feel any of the needle injections, just the "liquid" going in to my sack and abdomen if that makes sense.

I can answer all your questions, but depends on the doctor and the procedure they use. As many as you have seen, I am not shy posting my medical conditions, as if it helps one person, I have done a good service. Also, my Dad is a doctor and so is my brother, so probably know most then the average non-medical person.

1. Your first two questions are one in the same. Depending on the procedure and technique, that is all dependable. A co-worker had his done and he had to whack off 20 times to clear out the remaining swimming boys. My procedure doesn't warrant that. I have to take a "specimen" in two months for an analysis. Then another one a month after that. If all is clear, then mine took. Based on my procedure there is a 1 in 500 chance it "grew back" and a second procedure is needed. Not wise to have your partner stop birth control until you are at the point of where your sperm count is nil.

Follow doctors orders on follow up testing. I have heard some have not and wound up with another kid.

2. Reversible? check with your doctor on the procedure they use. Mine told me it is an 80% chance it is reversible. However, that is not covered by insurance and is very costly.

Bottom line.........if you get it done.......make sure you want it permanent. No reason to get it done unless you want it permanent.

I have good insurance and it cost me 25$ co-pay for consult and then only 25$ for the procedure. I got lucky with my insurance company.

PM if you want anymore info.

Yeah, depends on the procedure used.

co-worker had to have 20 "cleanings"

then a test in 2 months.

He never went for his 3rd since his first was clean. Personally, that is dumb in my opinion. 3 months is the typical grow back period.

reversing is expensive and out of pocket. Insurance won't pay it.

Essential my procedure was cutting some "tube", installing some titanium clips and cauterizing. Two external dissolve able  stitches.

It took 15 minutes.

I spent more time in the waiting room.

My doctor said he didn't believe "grow back" was a possibility with my vasectomy.  When he made the cut he folded the tube over and away from the other end.  He stitched it in this folded position so that there would be no chance of the two ends ever being next to each other.

My doctor said that in cases of unsuccessful vasectomies it is more probable the doctor doing the operation accidentally cut the one tube twice but in different places leaving the other tube functional.  Also, the studies that mention "grow back" use this explanation to explain why the partner gets pregnant if they don't have any other reason.  They don't actually go back and check the guys balls every time to see if anything has "grown back".  More likely these cases should be attributed to another person the man doesn't know about sleeping with his woman.

I just had my consult and the doctor hooked me up with 5 of the bigdog Valium, 20 Hydrocodone, an antibiotic, and the numbing cream.   I was assuming by the dosing that this was going to be a bad experience.

So, my question is, did you put the Lido cream all over the boys, or just on the back side?  I think he told me, but at the time he was looking at'em and there was talk of injecting with some type of pneumatic device and I must have reverted to my happy place to wait for the encounter to be over.  Now I just don't (or don't want to) remember.

At least I locked up an appt. for the Friday before the NFC/AFC playoffs and have already lined up weekend babysitting (with backups).  Trust me, painful or pain free, I am gonna be high maintenance that weekend.

I think it depends on the procedure used and the grow back.

My Doctor said the procedure he uses has a 1 in 500 chance of grow back. That is pretty insignificant, but also important to get those two specimens done to make sure. I totally will before my wife stops on the BC.

5 Valiums or a 5mg one? Not sure why you would get 5 valiums. That seems pointless.

I got one 10mg to take before procedure to calm me down. Was told not to drive if I took it, but did anyway. Just makes you a bit loopy.

I got 30 vicodins.

The pain is not terribly bad at all. Just make sure to ice 20 minutes every hour the first few days.

i went to a work happy hour about 6 hours after my procedure.

As for the lidocaine creme........that shit rocks.

Not sure as your procedure and not sure if women are reading this, but if they are deal with my graphic detail.

My incision is about 2cm below the bottom middle of my wang (funniest thing.....when the nurse (female) came in to prep me, she takes your cock and tapes it to your abdomen. make the beast with two backsing hilarious. I laughed).

I put that make the beast with two backsing creme all over my ball sack. They say to do an hour before.

I did 2 hours before, then 1.5hr before, then 1 hour before.

Make sure once you put on.....cover it in saran wrap so it stays close to your skin.

I didn't feel any of the injections.

worst is the smelling of burning flesh with the cauterizer.

actually I just had mine done monday.  I'm surprised by you guys who were up and about the same day.  Mountain biking?  Christ, I can barely move without having pain in my abdomen.  I can move OK, as long as I don't stand up too fast.
My fast lap is your sighting lap.

5 10mg Valiums.  He told me to take one in the next couple of days to see how it would affect me.  Wait a week and take another for the same reason.  He said that if they made me stupid to let him know.  If they didn't seem to do much, to use the third the night before, the fourth the morning of, and the fifth before I leave for the office.  And not to drive under any circumstances.  My wife is a pharmacist and she said it was overkill.  Personally, overkill the hell out of me.  I would just assume not remembering anything.

Glad I asked cause that isn't where I would have gone with it.

Even better.

I am gonna put a lot of faith in you and follow this plan.  My balls are in your hands man.

OH GOD!

You guys helped talk me into buying a Ducati
You guys talked me into taking a hacksaw to that Ducati
Now you have talked me into taking 30mg of Valium, numbing my balls with lidocane 3 times in one hour, and wraping them in plastic wrap.
We sure have come a long way together.

Final question, "Did you watch?"

Good lord about the valium. Interesting he gave it to you for post op; Most give for pre-op to calm you down. Not sure of the benefit of post-op as it is not a painkiller. I'd keep it for other anxiety issues.

I didn't have any "pain killers" before my procedure either.

Just used lidocaine creme. HUGE difference, but if you aren't educated in the medical world you wouldn't know the difference between lidocaine (local anesthetic, non-narcotic) verse a pain killer which is a narcotic.

I shaved on my own and needed no touch up.

He is trying to be a superior man.

You get 4 injections in your sack without exterior numbing you are straight lying to be tough.

I am 1 of 1o guys I know to get the lidodaine creme to numb before injections.

All other 9 said it was the worst pain in the world.
