Gift Wrapping tricks?

As fun as 12 layers of duct tape is, does anybody have any cool gift wrapping tricks they can share? I've only got a few simple tricks in my repertoire like adding a few extra folds or wrapping the package diagonally so that the folds show differently than the standard wrapping. They eat up a bit more paper, sometimes a lot more paper like when you go diagonally but the end results are nice. Even simple things like taking a piece of different paper and using it like a ribbon adds a nice touch. I'm not so big on the actual ribbon thing and like to keep it to just paper, but all tricks are welcome. This is what I'm thinking of.

I still haven't figured this one out.

I usually just roll the thing in paper and twist the ends like a piece of candy.  A 6" strip of tape or piece of string keeps it in place until Christmas.   ;D

With heavier weight wrapping paper, you can fold over the ends a couple extra times, enough that the package will hold its shape with just some stretchy ribbon and no tape.  If done well, nobody can tell it's a no-tape job until they unwrap it.  The paper can easily be re-used for a similar size gift.

Save old cardboard boxes of various sizes so you can put odd-shaped gifts inside them before wrapping.   For fun, put some type of noise maker inside as well so that they get a surprise when they shake the package.

Or you can just go the simpler (but more expensive) route with gift boxes and gift bags.  If you avoid too much tape on these then the recipient can recycle them for the next year.

I do that too, but this year I zip tied the ends - gear head style. I learned it watching OCC.

It's like I keep saying:  Those who would sacrifice a free range session for a giant beer, deserve neither free range time nor a giant beer.

It's pretty difficult to gift wrap tricks, and is illegal outside of a handful of counties in Nevada.

Wrap small gifts in porn. That way, the paper is like a gift in and of itself.  [thumbsup]
