well you figure his tent will be made of animal hides and bones so i don't think you will havbe to worry about it.

No need.  The real intent of the stabbing is to use the blood as a detract-ant for the rest of us.  All the mosquitoes, bears, fisher cats, skunks, etc will will be too interested in his tent to bother us.

The bears aren't really attracted to blood, but the coyotes, bobcats, fisher etc. are.  The bears are after the bag of potato chips you dragged into the tent with you.
