FYI, the Kelly Blue Book site has a guide to used bike prices.  I think Motorcycle Consumer News does too.

Ultimately though, what's it worth to you?  Like buying any other vehicle used, you really need to decide what you want (or at least have a few choices), then go out and educate yourself as to the specifics of those choices.

I had a '86 GSXR1100, still have an '86 GSXR750. Heck, I had an '86 GSXR750 Limited too. Sold it to a Suzuki dealership owner. Great scooters that changed the way we look at bikes today! waytogo All that we have today is because of these old bikes. I have a '85 FZR750 too. Don't know if Ben Spies was even born then!! laughingdp

I have had many oil-cooled gixxers. No idea what they're worth in the states though.

In fact, I have one NOW in my garage. My dad finally gave up riding and couldn't sell his 1991 GSX-R 750. Due to a make the beast with two backsup with my Monster (f*($*#ing cush drives) I brought the 750 back from my holidays in Tasmania.

103,000 km, and once the Monster is back on the road, it will be trackified. Good fun bike, though old tyres and stuffed brakes made it interesting getting it home.

It's a 73 Gran Torino with a 351C 4V slightly modified.

The guy wasn't interested, but there are two others who are:

93 GSXR 750, unfortunately water cooled
01 Kawasaki kz1000p police. Would make a great touring bike, not sure if I want it or not

Both guys want to take a look at the car, so I'll know more tommorow.

Don't discount the water-cooled gixxer. They're not the be-all and end-all but they're not a bad bike.
