Snapping Like a Squirrel

« on: January 14, 2010, 01:13:48 AM »

Been over here in Japan the past 2 years and moving to Stafford area this summer.  I am excited to get back to my S4R after riding my weak underpowered Honda here...(good enough for the island though).  I have started searching around for local events and cruis-ins ect.  There was quite a bit to do in Atlanta where I lived from 05-08.  Lots of mountain rides nearby and events 2-3x a week.  Hopefully some of you can chime in...meanwhile here is a pic of my 2006 S4R 1 of 100 red/black.  Lots of mods and tons of fun.  I have to pick up my Aprilia Dorsoduro when I get to Atlanta and the Duc will come out of storage once I move to where-ever I find a home.  She has been in storage for the past 2 years and with 5k will get some fresh tires, belts, valve adjustment and fluids change one back.

Stafford, some good roads near there, we'll have to hook-up once you get settled, got a couple of riding buddies down by you, send me a PM when you get ready for a ride, we run at a spirited all day pace. - Gene

And when Gene says, 'all day' he means it. You might catch us giving him a hard time occasionally, but Gene is valued member of our little tribe. He's got an encyclopedic knowledge of roads for hundreds, if not thousands of miles, and can recommend some great routes just from memory.

Nice bike BTW - I am a sucker for the megs.

Thanks for the kind words. I'd just add only for my friends and I do have rules about my routes.

Well I got my orders and have been looking at homes and should be living in the Montclair area.  Where are the meet spots or cruise-ins in the local area.  Bike has been sitting so I gotta get new tires..who do you all use in the area?  I do all my other maintenance..I should have the bike out of temp storage by mid July...anxious for some good rides.  Also looking at adding an Aprilia Dorsoduro to the garage.  I was going to buy in Atlanta where my other home is, but who is decent to deal with down there (cash buyer here so private sale is ideal, but all I see is them at dealers and i hate paying tax.

Rats - I did want to go this year but didn't look up the dates before I committed to other Memorial Day plans.

There's always stuff going on in the DC metro area. Google is probably your best bet... or follow me one day when I'm trying to get some place. I always seem to be rolling past some classic car show when I actually have to get to some other place...
