Hey guys! We're getting ready to buy our first blu-ray player and are upping our 480i 65in TV to 1080p all at once - so we're ready for the awe inspiring image and sound quality of Blu-ray.

If you were going to make wish list of "must have" movies, which would you have on your list?

Here's my list so far (not in any particular order):

1)   Star Trek (2009)
2)   Toy Story
3)   CARS
4)   Lost in Space
5)   Terminator Salvation
6)   I Am Legend
7)   Sphere
8 )   Casino Royale
9)   Iron Man
10)   Pirates of the Caribbean (the first movie)
11)   Ratatouille
12)   Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
13)    The Day After Tomorrow

Dude,

The Dark Knight is freaking amazing in Blu-Ray!

I frequent these 2 sites for info.

I also recommend The Matrix and Men in Black.   [thumbsup]

Pay the $80 for the BBC: Planet Earth Blu-Ray box set.

Sit back and watch as David Attenborough narrates nature in all her glory.

Just don't fall asleep while watching the bit about cave spiders or the bit about the brain-eating fungus. You'll likely wake up screaming.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

I don't have a PS3 (or blu-ray) but the lord of the rings trilogy on DTS vs (dolby digital) on my 5.1 entertainment system is just amazing...[thumbsup]

I would think on blu-ray it would be even more amazing?

2005 S2R (800)

I already own the Dark Knight in standard format and don't really want to have duplicate movies - hopefully the 480i to 1080p will make it look that much better!

LOTR is a gorgeous movie, but I just can't sit that long through a movie more than once or twice at most - low replay value.

The Planet Earth series is a MUST - thanks for that idea - I forgot about it!  [thumbsup]

Come to think of it...The Day After Tomorrow and Flight of the Phoenix would be good ones too!

Would be awesome, but even with the advances and popularization of 3d for 2010, the technology has a long way to go. I won't be buying a 3d tv until they can produce one that does a nice job of switching from 2d to 3d depending on what you're watching.

Though, I would LOVE an LED tv!

Felt like reviving this thread.  I've always thought certain Blu Ray's just look remarkably better than the DVD, others without comparison just look amazing on a good tv.

1.  Layer Cake
2.  Minority Report
3.  Ratatouille (and everything else from Pixar)
4.  Sunshine
5.  Speed Racer
6.  Tropic Thunder
7.  Fight Club

I am still waiting impatiently for Lawrence of Arabia.  I've seen the HD broadcast, the Blu Ray will be incredible.  I just got 'Avatar' and '9' in the mail today, and I'm going to be ordering 'Saving Private Ryan' and 'Master and Commander' soon.

Anyone else found some good ones since January?

Black Hawk Down.  But only if you have proper surround sound and a sub-woofer.  Then, OMG.

Batman Begins is awesome on blu ray as well if you dont already have it. I have flight of the phoenix if you wanna borrow it. Sin City is another good one  [thumbsup] and V for Vendetta is pretty awesome too. Shoot'em up is an ok movie but in blu ray the clarity and special effects are crazy. I've got a bunch , so if you want to watch something let me know.  ;D
