Ah, didn't notice the adjustability. I rode it in with just enough speed to overcome the "door" tilt and didn't tie it down.

i would bet it was just on too-tight of a pinch.  it is supposed to pinch the tire a bit but you should be able to roll it out with a little effort.  i have a 21" tire on my Elefant and the widest setting is still a little small but it comes out without too much effort.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I moved all the way from MD to AZ and had my bike packed in the back of a Penske truck.  The truck was packed tight.  I had the duc along the passenger side wall with the back tire up against the front wall of the truck, near the cab.  I put a blanket over it and packed a bunch of pillows around it.  In first gear with the kickstand down and a bunch of furniture boxing it in tightly.  No tie-downs, no problems at all.  Up and over the TN mountains in the rain.

Speaking from experience, go to your local dealer and get a pallet that the new bikes come in. Generally they'll give it to you for free. Put it in the front corner of the truck, strap the bike down to the pallet and pack soft stuff around it. I did the same with two bikes and drove over 2,000 miles with success. Good luck.

I did that from AZ to MI with my DR350.  I, unfortunately, something came loose and the disc brake was bent up a bit.

I had a crate built for my Duc.  Now I ride the bike up the ramp and into the bottom of the crate.  Tie her down, take off the headlight and handlebars, screw on the sides and top of the crate and she's ready to go!  I push the bike to the front of the truck and pack everything in behind it.

Here's a clip.  I'll post up pics of the assembly as well.

hey everybody thanks for the responses with a big  [thumbsup] to rc for the pallet idea.  I called around to two local shops.  One didnt have any and another (coleman powersports) wanted to charge me $100.  I wasnt surprised they wanted some cash but $100, come on!   After getting that news I made a call to a not so local (60 min away) shop that is known for great service.  After one quick phone call I was set to pick up my free pallet.  My experience with the guys out at DUCPOND was nothing short of awesome.  The owner and sales guy showed me around their shop and after an hour of chatting they loaded my pallet into my car for me.  To make the trip super sweet, they started up the desmo rr in the show room!
