I grew up drinking that stuff (the Black Label).  Funny to see it now.

Yea, it is.  And so... I think it is a coolant overflow tank.  Holding all of the air that didn't go through the fins.

Hell, I dunno but I've seen RedBull, soda or beer cans used as impromptu coolant catch cans before....
