I thought they scrapped the 'one bike' thing.  Huh?

First off, there was contact at the bottom of the corkscrew....you might want to check your TiVO again, Rossi went into the dirt b/c he was too hot at the top of the corkscrew. I believe he made a mistake and pulled it out of his ass when it happened to stick.  Casey backed out slightly 'cause he saw Rossi was out of control(possibility of a crash), but there was definitely contact!

That being said, it was one of the most spectacular passes in moto racing!  He definitely, was in Casey's head from that point on.

True. One rider. One bike. 6 Motors.

BTW - Are they changing the flag-to-flag rule in light of the one-bike-per-rider rule? With two bikes per rider, you can pit and switch to a rain-prepped bike. With one bike, will they red-flag the race or will riders just pit and change tires, suspension, and other things NASCAR style?

As I understand it, 6 motors in any # of chassis, so you can have wet/dry spare bike in the pit, but if you use it the motor counts towards the 6 you are allowed all season.

From the article:

Subject to limitation in 2010 will be the amount of bikes in the garage, as from next season onwards there will be just one machine per rider. The minimum weight of the single bike will be 2kg more than permitted in the previous rules.

I'm hoping Derby chimes in with a quote from the 2010 rule book to see what the exact details are.

i'm not the one who needs to check his tivo. Smiley

the reverse angle replay clearly shows this.  casey lifted his knee and definitely made a correction, but there was no contact when rossi came back onto the pavement.

...unless you mean the contact casey made on the way up the hill before all this.  cuz there was contact there.  that must be what you meant.

I was hoping to see what Rossi would do on a Desmo, though now I assume it's the GP10 Stoner and Hayden will be on for 2010.  He's said in interviews that he's wanted to win on Italian machinery.  It's also been said of course that he'd be a natural in an F1 Ferrari; Mercedes has even brought him in for test rides.

On the topic of the Stoner/Rossi Laguna Seca standoff, thought I'd add this link for anyone who hasn't seen it:  Rossi-Stoner Laguna Seca 2008 battle

I see Stoner's right forearm grazing Rossi's rear tail section.  The shots from behind in the above clip are too far away to tell.

Rossi passes on the dirt: greatest pass in racing
Everyone else: time penalty

Damn it, why do I get sucked into this stupid debate every time? bang head

i know it seems like i'm perpetuating one of those retarded internet arguments.  it's just that, simply, the pass happened before the corkscrew.  there was no pass in the dirt and therefore nothing to penalize him for.

i'm sure that had there been, 'even though it's valentino', he would have been penalized.  it's not like he hasn't been in the past when he actually did break some rules.

-- and mentioning casey leaning on him going up the hill was just cheekiness.  yes there was contact, but it was just racin'.  stuff that happens all the time.  i thought that was a really strong move.
