a big  :( from the Aussies, but no matter, next time you're round these parts.....

Sorry, i didn't even have the balls to put up in the threat i started that i wasn't going to make it.  :'(

I asked the bank account and it was not possible to make the trip that i wanted to make. ie: Get a bike and ride till the wheels fall off. I decided i wanted to spend more time in Japan and the PI then get back the US to ride south.

Ill get Big a beer for you when i see him in August. [drink]

I envy you Dan.  Hopefully in about 10 years I can do something similar.  I have to wait for the kids to get a bit older though before I start taking long trips such as this.  The pictures are great, keep them coming.

Hopefully i inspire one person to make the trip they have always dreamed of. I would have never done this without the inspiration from a childhood friend of mine, and it has been the best decision of my life. More pictures and stories to come  [thumbsup]

P.S.Hope to read your ride report when i'm at home raining young ones  [thumbsup]

Another cool looking FTR

Its a honda

There is a lot of these three wheel scooters running around, mostly delivery, but not this pimped out. Strange to watch these things lean in to a turn but the rear wheels stay flat.

Interesting food carrying device. It pivots to keep everything level (somewhat) and has its own suspension. No more spilled soup

Who needs touratech luggage, just get the biggest cooler you can find and strap it on the back

Especially on your YZ250

I may drop-ship my ass directly to Colombia, but on the way back NM is a YES. My aunt lives in Santa Fe.

And a fun fact. My family had a land grant from the king of Spain to "find" Albuquerque. If you go to "old Town" there is a restaurant with the 7 founding father's and Nicholas Lucero is my great great grand father. We have very little rights to the city, but fun fact none the less. [drink]

COOL!  When you come through, we'll do a mock take over of the city w/the NMMR hooligans & our Ducati's!  Albuquerque won't know what hit 'em!!!   [evil]

Dewd!  From another fellow named Dan, mad propz.  Awesome pics!  What an excellent adventure! [thumbsup]

My wife grew up in the Philippines... we were just there in June.  Didn't see any Ducatis... but now that I know there's a whole club, I gotta see about hooking up with them next time we're there.  I totally want to go get some little dirt bike and explore, too.  Okay, maybe not such a little bike... I would want like a 650 thumper.  Vacation time is so limited... we may need to save up so I can take an unpaid leave of absence and spend a month or two down there.  Such beautiful country!  And with that much time, I could justify buying a bike.

My in-laws have a home in Mamplasan (subdivision called "Brentville"), which is south of Manila.  We stayed there, then went out to Bataan (where they're building a power plant... my father-in-law did most of the business footwork to get that project off the ground).  Stayed at this really cool historical resort near Bagac (Las Casas Filipinas de Azucar).  Swam in the South China Sea... I grew up in the Pacific NW, with 55-degree Pacific Ocean water... first time I'd ever been in warm saltwater, or seen a black sand beach.  Farking incredible.

We also went down and stayed at a resort in Cebu for a couple days.  Some family friends run an orphanage & school there; we went and had a great time visiting with the kids on one of those days.

I seriously want to bring back one of the Toyota Hilux pickups or a Toyota Fortuner SUV.  There's nothing like them in the US... they're small, but have real offroad capability.  The smaller rigs sold Stateside are toys, and the 4-runner and Tacoma have become bloated whales.

Oh, be sure to take the tour of Corregidor, if you enjoy history at all (particularly WWII).  It's very, very cool.

I still need to get the pics off my digital camera and have the film from my SLR developed so I can post up about my own week in the Philippines.

Oh yeah, my father-in-law wants to take me to Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and elsewhere on future trips (my wife has been to all these places).  Flights from Manila to the rest of SE Asia are a lot cheaper than getting there from the US.

Anyway... really enjoyed this thread so far, and wishing you safe travels and lots of fun on the rest of your adventure!!!   [thumbsup]  [beer]
