I watched that race and it WAS extra special, it was the only time I saw a Ducati win a race in the 70's ! There were a couple of 750 sports which did ok, about 4th and 10th I think, against a horde of Z1's. We did have a big advantage though, Ducati's were the only marque which didn't have to make a fuel stop. Great days.

What gets me is the bolt used to retain the valve guide...
I was going to say that when I was at VeeTwo we used that method to retain valves on race engines, but reading the story I see it WAS a VeeTwo engine with the 60deg intake. |

They are tubeless, and stronger than solid wheels. The tracks get incredibly rough in some cases. One of Bill Werner's Kawi's broke a magnesium wheel in Lima, OH (very rough cushion track) rider walked away.....could have been ugly. Nice find TF |
