it's amazing how well those 500 morinis go, given how small their valves are.  quicker than a pantah 500 or v50.
Allegedly this one was based on a factory road racer. Can't recall the details anymore. Halfheimers? Wink ducatiz will no doubt straighten us out shortly. Never rode a 500, but my 600 SL was quite "adequate" with the right jetting, K&N's and pipe. This particular 500 Sport is belongs to the owner of a decent sized vintage race car shop in town which specializes in cars for SVRA. He gave me more details at one time but they must have gone out the other ear. Cool In ancient time I used to adjust the valves on a pal's 3 1/2 until he located a 600 SL like mine. Picture in my intro thread here: http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=50673.msg929505#msg929505

EDIT: Ahhh, I see ducatiz beat me to it! Wink

But not so much faster , it was my first bike 32 years ago ,
I thought it was very fast at that time  cheeky

That looks like a real hoot! Where's a rich aunt when you need one!!! Wink

The commentator is accurate too, BTW, as an old riding buddy used to race AMA vintage at Daytona on his modded 450 Scrambler. Took a couple of seconds and one or two individual races. Budget effort too..., but HE could RIDE. Wink

For me, the standout of yesterday's Howlers Vintage Motorcycle Club ride (they let me hang around because of the pair of mostly disassembled Yam XS650s I'm someday going to do something with...) was Glen's 750 that he picked up at a garage sale a few years ago:

Other highlights were the nicely cafe-ed CB750 & the pair of Royal Enfilelds separated by about 70 years with surprisingly little technological difference between the two - or is that unsurprising?

What is this?

750SS with a different seat and fairing, pretty much.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Hmmm... That was the livery on my 900SS. Can't recall seeing any 750's here.
