The concept of a naked bike with a MotoGP mill is bada$$, no doubt... but the execution on this one leaves some things to be desired.  The proportions are wrong... the headlight, the bikini fairing... there is a significant proportional mistmatch of the whole front end when you just peel the plastics of the D16RR.  The "frame", seat, tank, swingarm... they just look awkward when exposed like this.  If they wanted a naked bike with a MotoGP mill, they needed to build a proper naked bike around the D16RR motor.

But hey, to each their own. *shrug*

Someone will be along soon to discuss the superiority of the newer headlight design as well as how efficient the bikini fairing is at shaping the air flow up and around the rider.  But until then...   vomit

I posted it because it's cool and different, but far from perfect.

they used the stock rearsets... I would have gone with Durbahn's
the entire seat should have been replaced with a tubular subframe/seat combo instead

remove the rear fender to open up the rear

remove the belly pan and certainly not put a rizoma frame/axle sliders on it

for headlight, that's a tough one, but I think the streetfighters would have been a better Ducati choice here.

no bar end mirrors, a set of low fighter style would have fit better.

honestly, there was not a lot of effort put into it, whether the owner didn't want anything that couldn't be put back, or the shop didn't want to get too into it.

Someday, probably when I retire, I will have a beautiful custom Ducati like that, or the Louis Sport 1000 above.  A work of mechanical art, that will be ridden to cruise-ins, ride-ins, and other gatherings on sunny Sundays, and spend the rest of it's time on proud display along the wall of my garage, with its own little special floor (maybe mirror tiles), a placard, and accent lights that show off its form.

I love this bike.

Anyone notice how often this style pops up in customized bikes?

Why don't any manufacturers make this bike?

not sure if you guys know how this bike was produced...

Louis is a company that's been around 75 years. They are a motorcycle specialist.

They had a major builder in Germany, his name eludes me right now, build a bike based on customer wants.

So they had a 3 or 5 part (can't remember how many) survey put out.

each major component was voted on from exhaust, wheels, seat, tank

of course he offered only about 3 or 4 options per component.

in the end it was a commmunity project.

I noticed Porshe did the same recently for the 50th anniversary 911.

it was really cool to participate (i did on both) and it kept me coming each week to vote.

I know all about Louis, they won't ship tachometers to the USA!   laughingdp

And that's exactly my point!  This style is well-beloved by people, and no one makes a factory version..

Most of us have heard of this guy; lately he's been exclusively riding cool Italian bikes.
