Well, the UPS man just dropped off a new top triple for my 1100...unexpectedly.  I ordered it last week during the brief "in stock" window of opportunity but never received notification that it had shipped.  Coincidentally, I just emailed them yesterday wondering what was up.  I began to get concerned when I noticed it was back to the 'ol "pre-order now" status.  Anyway it's here and I'm happy...now on to finding a set of clip-ons.

Hey, nice going.  Its a lovely piece of work that Speedymoto top triple  waytogo  FYI I first fitted mine along with Speedymoto's "tall boy" 3.5" riser clipons but found that these side mounted clipons compromised steering lock too much, so I'd be looking for clipons with the more tradidional front mount if I were you.

hey Ungeheuer, I was thinking of going with the Swatts 1-1/2" rise.   Do you have any experience with how the Swatts fit up with the speedy triple?

As for pics, I'll try to remember to take a few this evening.

It's my opinion (although I have not attempted to fit 1.5" Swatts) that there will be insufficient clearance to mount 1.5" Swatts as the handlebar mounting boss will, I believe, collide with the leading edge of your SM top triple.  Although if you reverse the Swatt riser stopintime style it may be possible.....  I've experimented with SM Tallboy 3.5" clipons, Swatt 2.5" clipons and finally settled on Swatt 3.5" clipons.....

Here's me experiences with all three >> http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=21407.msg447867#msg447867

3.5" Swatts

2.5" Swatts

Ungeheuer - and OP Smiley

The way they're mounted in your pictures is reversed - like mine are. It was done that way to accomodate the coffin style fluid reservoirs. Still need the spacer though.

The reversed style will, as mentioned/asked, NOT work with the zero or 1.5" risers.

Adding to the confusion: This style was later introduced as the "normal" design from Swatt. We then have two generations Swatt clip ons. It seems Swatt have new pictures (red ones) of the latest 2.5" iteration, which are the socalled reversed.

I have to ask myself - did this really help Roll Eyes Wink

Kinda....  stopintime yours are reversed, mine are not - although ours both appear mounted in exatly the same way. Yours are MkI which when reversed mount in the same manner as non-reversed MkII.  So if the OP had MkII Swatts as shown above - but reversed them as did you - then the bars would be mounted in the opposite manner to ours and then would - I believe - clear the top triple.  Maybe....lol

Or else he needs a set of MkI's and mounts 'em not reversed..... Confused?  You're welcome  Grin

Spacers are obviously not an issue with M1100's remote reservoirs.

After seeing the 2.5" rise in the photo (and the fact that 1.5" doesn't seem to work) that may be the way to go.  Is the general consensus that 3.5" rise is roughly equal to stock?

Nope. 3.5" rise is lower than stock.... I'm guessing around 25mm lower, maybe a little more.

It would seem so, but NO NO NO. Because these, as most clip ons, have a down angle the grips will measure about two inches lower than stock bars. This effect is reinforced by the clip ons sweep back angle (mounted on a down-angled fork).

I was surprised by this, but found it to be a functional riding position for me. YMMV.

The order is in, Swatts 2.5".  I guess the worste case is I don't like them and order the 3.5" since I still have another 6 weeks or so before the weather begins to look up.  Thanks for all of your help gentlemen!

That's interesting they made an update so that the new style of Swatt's fit asthe old ones when reversed.  When I reversed mine to make everything work I felt bad about turning the logo in.
