Vee Two - 2v High Torque cams?
«

Hmm, why must they tempt me so - Got a favorite sellers email from Ebay, and this little goodie was in it.

Anyone tried out cams from Vee Two? I've got a clutch from them, and it's quite nice. At $280 under the current exchange rate, it's not the steal that my clutch bits were (very favorably exchange rate at that time), but it's not hideous for cams
FYI they also have 1000DS flavors and a few 4v versions

I asked my dealer if i was going to gain something with these cames
I have M900sie 2001 which has about the same cams as the ST2 and my dealer said it wasn't worth it

The ie and ST2 cams aren't the exact same though, the ST2 are hotter, and the V2 are hotter still.
There's a writeup on brad's website about the torque grind cams, same as the old DP product I think.
I have a set in the garage waiting to be installed on my M900, and I also got a set of the Race cams as well. (future track bike parts bin. i seem to accumulate parts for a bike i do not yet own...
)
You'll want to add in a set of inlet valves as well, since these have a greater lift, the longer stem of their valves keeps you from having to source odd shims.
The only thing I know about them (since I have yet to install them), is that the bulletin included advises you to check clearance with the piston and the cut-outs/pockets on the dome to make sure there's no interference. Sometimes the piston needs to be machined apparently.
Torque is V2-03-210 I believe
Race is V2-03-212 I believe.
(There was a 211 that was "street" also, iirc).
Grab a set of billet adj. pulleys while you are at it, they are cheap from VeeTwo and helpful for degreeing cams.

Thanks ATO. Hmm of course this seems like more of a project than it might seem at the surface. Maybe... a race 900 maybe...

Yes, certainly more than on the newer bikes. They are drop-in on the 4V's.

I have a set of the "torque cams" in my '97, but I also got a pair of V-2 modified heads with new valves at the same time, so I can't really quantify how much just the cams improved my bike's performance. Oh yeah, I also got adjustable pulleys which allowed my wrench to tweak the timing after he put everything together.

I assume that your bike is a carbed 900? What engine mods? Cam selection depends on your purposes and engine mods.
If is carbed and has "V" heads just get the Vee Two pulleys and cams dialled. The torque grind appears to have more lift but less duration than the stock cams. Seems to be a 'grunter' cam.
If it's a 900ie then the cams are nearly as hot as ST2 cams and are good. Pulleys are a cost effective way. Brad Black dialled in my Vee Two pulleys (his specs) on my carbed M900 for 2-3 hp from 3-6,500rpm.
I'd get high comp pistons before changing the cams. Or you could hit Vee Two for a deal on a performance package!
MBP seem to prefer the ST2 cams in their big valve, 955, short manifold engines. They claim an extra 6hp over stock carbed cams in their application.
Bikeboy.org has good cam specs and dyno charts to check out.

Mine is an IE 900. This is more an exercise in curiosity, than something I'm really planning on. Those cams were featured in one of the targeted emails that I got from Ebay, and it piqued my curiosity

The deal is fantastic. The DP cams went for something like a grand, and the DP cams were these torque grind cams I believe.
The race cams, plus short intake manifolds + split fcrs + lightweight flywheel + big bore would be a force to be reckoned with. (And a force I plan to create... all I am missing now is the short intake manifolds, split fcrs, lightweight flywheel, big bore kit, and bike with fairings to put them on...)

Everyone should take note that V2 is defunct.
Only matters regarding any warranty concerns...the product is top notch.

Yes, they've been liquidating all their product for some time. I have a spreadsheet from a few months ago of their remaining stock and the price they were willing to part with it.
At one time I was told they were switching gears (err... industries) and were going to focus on something else (but wouldn't say what).
Hence, the website is in the toilet.
Perhaps one of our cali/westcoast billet vendors will step up and copy some of their products that were really good, such as the billet adjustible cam pulleys - Lookin' at you Slingshot/Motowheels/SpeedyMoto.
I don't think its likely anyone will step up to manufacture similar 750/900 or bevel cams. They also produce some 1000DS cams, which may also work in the 1100 (no FHE, not sure if the head design changed in any other ways). I believe there are some other cam manufacturers for the newest motors, though I can't point at them at the moment.

If they're around when I have the money my 996 will have some of their cams.

Glad I got my clutch basket, drum and pulleys when I did. Also explains the discount prices, the clutch parts were less than half price. So now is the time to try and get some bargains.
My understanding is that the 'torque' grind is good with the long manifold bikes, so maybe the 900ie bikes could use the alternative grinds (211 and Daytona grinds I think, better check Brads site) recommended for short manifolds and split carbs which may work well on IE short manifolds.
Should we storm Vee Two before they run out of Duck stock? I might give them a call.
